Cam Newton Released

Only teams I can think of that would let Cam start are Dolphins, Texans, Broncos, Eagles, and maybe Colts depending on Wentz injury. Last I heard Wentz was recovering well but then got placed on Covid list. As far as the other teams go I don't think Cam is better than what they currently have. I think Texans are just ready to tank so they wouldn't want to add anyone right now. Seems like Dolphins want anyone but Tua so maybe that would be his best bet if he doesn't want a backup role

Newton can't throw the ball downfield anymore. He never had great throwing mechanics (too much upper body movement prior to throwing the ball), and his shoulder injury only made things worse. Is he better than Cooper Rush? Yes. Is that a good measuring stick? Not at all.

This is quite the shocker. I know Jones is the future. But I thought they would give Cam a few games at least to see what he still has left.

It's been clear for quite a while that he isn't very good.

I don’t think he could start for any of those teams. Maybe Houston but why would Houston jeopardize being the worst team in football and getting the #1 pick.

I wonder if Miami has interest. Brian Flores probably talked to someone in New England and more than likely knows what ever needs to be known.

Well, according to Jerry Jones, it would be a "high bar" to find a better back-up QB than Rush. smdh

Belichick is setting up a built-in excuse for the season without Brady again.

If they do well, the so-called genius (I have never thought this) returns.
If they do poorly, it was to be expected with a rookie quarterback.

I would not put it past him... Kraft is probably still saying "How did we Jerry/Jimmy this situation Bill????"

I watched two of his games this preseason. He can throw the ball twice a well with twice the velocity of Cooper Rush. However, way too much drama. Hard to believe a rookie is going to start for NE.

Cam cannot read a D, period. Was only effective when he could run the ball. Those days are long past.
