What I've been able to see on the limited video available.
  • QB
    • Ben DiNucci has the best physical ability of the 3 backups.
      • Big arm and accurate in pass drills with no pass rush.
      • Very athletic.
      • Mental processing with pass rushers in his face is his challenge.
Four observations about one backup QB...but not a blurb or comment about the other two?

  • LB
    • Vander Esch moving much much better than this time last year.
    • Jabril Cox looks smooth but looks like a big Safety.
Too many people have written off LVE. 2nd Team All Pro as a rookie. Playing his best ball in a long time at the end of the last season, while not missing a game all season.

If LVE is healthy and his movement is truly back, he can be the big offball LB left in nickel who can still cover while Micah lines up at DE.

It's a very nice starting trio for all downs.

Somebody said somewhere that Cox is more like a big SS. Yeah. Quinn likes tweeners like that. I think we got 3 LBs with roles that fit them.

Making progress as Romo II, DaNooch. Just needs Darren Woodson to say he's got the right stuff.

Thanks for this. Have to disagree about Joseph getting whipped By Vasher. If you are talking about the circus catch Vasher made it's hard to say Joseph got whipped. That was a catch you maybe see 5 percent of the time.

I also just don't see a big arm from DiNucci...but at best he will be 3rd string.

In an emergency I don’t DiNucci sniffing a regular season game . Rush is the backup and it’s wait and see who goes PS at QB .

I’m not convinced Joseph takes Browns job but if KJ Lewis and Wright are top three depth at CB that’s a nice trio . Camp # 2 for Nashon Wright should see a steady climb from rookie yr.

What I've been able to see on the limited video available.

Without pads...

  • WR
    • CeeDee flashes a lot of wow plays. Consistency will be the key for him.
    • Vasher flashed multiple times. Maybe a good redzone option.
      • Can be a valuable contributor even if not a high catch percentage receiver.
    • Tolbert looks more like an NFL WR. Solid.
    • Noah Brown looks really good getting open and catching the ball.
    • Dennis Houston flashed a couple of big catches against CBs in the top 4 on the depth chart.
    • Turpin has shown really good hands. He obviously has great speed & elusiveness.
      • Expect to see him get an opportunity to become the smoke screen pass WR.
      • Those passes at the line of scrimmage that went to CeeDee last season.
    • James Washington. Does not avoid physical play but have not seen him get open.
    • Fehoko. I've only seen him catching passes vs air.
  • TE
    • Peyton Hendershot shows up when watching pass routes. Smooth & agile athlete.
    • Ferguson shows more fluidity than I remembered from his college game footage.
    • McKeon. Reminds me of Schultz.
    • Ian Bunting. Noticeably bigger than all other non OL/DL players.
  • OL
    • Tyron run blocking DEs like Armstrong is just not fair.
      • Just drives him out of the video frame.
    • Sam Williams blew past Isaac Alarcón on an inside rush.
      • SW at the QB before Alarcón out of his stance.
    • Not much video of Tyler Smith or McGovern that was good for evaluation purposes.
    • I keep noticing OT Aviante Collins. Nothing wow but didn't see any fails either.
    • I'm still waiting to see Josh Ball.
      • The camera is generally on the LT side & he's been primarily at RT.
  • Edge
    • Sam Williams looks terrific both outside and inside.
    • Fowler looks good as a pass rusher.
  • LB
    • Vander Esch moving much much better than this time last year.
    • Jabril Cox looks smooth but looks like a big Safety.
  • CB
    • Brown looks good.
    • Diggs size/length/strength & technique overwhelms many WRs.
    • Kelvin Joseph. Mostly good but got whipped by Vasher in the endzone.
    • Nahshon Wright. Looked better than others against the length of Vasher.
  • Safety
    • Bell stands out.
    • Not many good views of the others.

Appreciate the work!

very surprising that we have barely heard anything from our top 3 picks.

Per Jeff Cavanaugh camp report posted last night on Youtube: 1) Daron Bland flashes a lot and I think somebody else mentioned this. 2) (and I am the king of they arent in pads yet) Terrence Steele getting beat too often in 11 on 11s. 3) Defense playing a lot of 3 corners and 3 safties with Kearse at LB. 4) Garibay didnt look good.

Observations on this one (disclaimer: no pads):
Good to see Josh Ball. Can't see much in the few snaps. Looked OK vs veteran Armstrong.

Good that Fehoko caught the pass but it appeared somebody forgot to cover him.

I like the agility/movement skills of TE Ferguson.

Nice catch by Dowdle to not lose time in the transition from catch to run.

DE Mike Tafua was playing against the 1st team offensive line.
- Probably some other 3rd/4th string types with him, but he's the one I noticed.

Yes, apparently Jourdan Lewis thinks Daron Bland can contribute this year.

DBs & WRs are a good area of focus when they're not in pads.

Side Note: Brown now #3 with Bland taking Brown's #30.

They've had some snaps where the OL was to intentionally let the pass rushers get to the QB.
- They wanted to see the QB with pressure in their face.
- I specifically remember thinking that Steele whiffed a couple of times and then a media guy in that video pointed out they were testing the QB vs pressure on those specific snaps. It's possible Cavanaugh saw those snaps and didn't know they were intentionally letting the pass rushers win.
