Can 9 year veteran Dak Prescott lead today's Dallas Cowboys to a Super Bowl?

A much better question is can we finally win back to back playoff games with the following impediments to making deep playoff runs?
  1. Jerry is our owner
  2. Jerry is our GM
  3. Jerry is our head coach ("Ol' Schotty" is the scapegoat in waiting)
  4. Ol' Schotty, our head coach lacks the power to hire and fire players and coaching staff
  5. Jerry sets the culture
  6. If the players are cool with Jerry, then they don't answer to the head coach or anyone else but Jerry
  7. Our home games feature blinding sunlight, further evidence that our owner/gm/hc cares more about ascetics than winning ball games.
  8. Our FO is almost a non-factor in free agency (only Super Bowl winning teams are aggressive in FA.
  9. 31 other NFL GMs are working 18 hour days to improve the roster while Jerry is distracted with signing the next motocross race or bringing that hack George Strait back for a concert at the Death Star.
  10. Jerry holds weekly radio shows to discuss strategy normally performed by the head coach.
  11. Jerry hold a presser at the same time as the "head coach" after every game (unless we are embarrassed and then Jerry is nowhere to be found.
Since the above items remain constant in Dallas, it is really difficult (impossible for 30 seasons anyway) for a team so mismanaged to make it to the NFC Championship game with so many obstacles to winning. How many years have we heard we have a Super Bowl roster? And how many playoff games ended in a loss because our defense can't make a stop? Have we fixed our defense so we can make a deep playoff run? You know the Aaron Rogers 4th and 25 defense from a few years ago? Have we fixed the defense that could not stop a hobbled Aaron Rogers in green Bay when Dez caught the ball with 4:58 left in the 4th quarter? Have we fixed the defense that could not force a 3 and our after Romo fumble in Seattle? Because that is why we lost those playoff games because our defense is soft once we play in the playoffs.

Dak may have a great year or a terrible one, but Jerry's insistence on embracing a losing model (The Jones Model - hc has no power, Jerry does the press conferences and radio shows, our home games have blinding sun, Jerry hires the staff for the "head coach", etc.) remains the elephant in the room. Dak couldn't win here, Romo couldn't win here, Bledsoe couldn't win here, etc.

Until the Jones model of management changes, the outcome is predictable. And it doesn't matter if Dak, Romo, or Anthony Banks (Cowboys preseason only) is under center.
This is just about perfect. Nice job.

Anyone who disagrees with a single word isn’t paying attention.

Can he? sure.
Will he? Extremely unlikely.

Dak is a better QB than Jalen Hurts.
And many other SB QBs.

But he isn't a Brady/Mahomes level hand them an average NFL roster and get there, guy.

I expect Dak to be good again this year.
His OL will be improved and WR corps won't be trash.
But I don't expect him to reach MVP talks because the RB spot is still soft and TE is a weakness.

The issue is in overall talent. Run stop ability still looks to be poor, and CB is still walking wounded.
LB is a weakness. So basically, on defense we can line folks up right and the safeties will tackle but its largely sack or bust on long pass attempts and on run plays we gotta try to run blitz into the proper hole or just eat the 6-yard gain.

We should be able to beat the bottom half of the league, play even with mid-tier team and lose to the upper crust.

LOL...the fact that he's 9 years in - and the average QB plays 3-4 years - TELLS ONE HOW PATHETIC THE QUESTION (AND THE SUBSEQUENT ANSWERS) ARE...

seriously...are these threads meant to troll?
Yep...it's an easy opportunity to go holier-than-thou fan.

But of course Dak needs certain things...like any other QB. And he also needs to do his part. Be that leader and inspiration some claim he is...miracle worker even. What's wrong with asking that of him?

Can the 3rd best QB in the division lead the Cowboys to a super bowl? No.

Win 3 games in a row in January against the likes of Stafford, Goff, Hurts, Love, Daniels, Mayfield? No.

Forget the super bowl. Can he lead the cowboys to just 2 wins in a row in January? The clock is ticking.
This.

COULD he? Yeah of course…

But similar to the much heralded Brady and Mahomes, he also needs other things….like a top run defense and superior coaching, neither of which Jerry will allow, especially the latter because it has to be all about him.

He is going to keep going with the same losing formula because he can, and is “having fun working with his kids.” That’s the reality of being a Cowboys fan these days. Success isn’t possible because of the ego of one man.

FYI: There are those who disagree. I agree but I will not post very much that I do because The Illuminati (a.k.a. Stephen Jones) is always watching...

Well every bit of it is true, and the only part I can sort of respect is at least Jerry has essentially admitted it. He really does tell the fans…’this is how it is, and if you don’t like it, too bad.’

The flip side is it makes me can’t stand him even more, but that’s my problem I suppose. Just waiting him out. I hang around here as support for the loss of something that was once so dear to me.

That post was about as accurate as anything I’ve ever read….almost worthy of that nail emoji lol.

I hate to say it but Hurts is much better because he handles the pressure very well and agree with it or not it goes a long way in being great!

ANOTHER GREAT POST! Heck, this over hyped, overpaid, less than mediocre bum won't be able to win three games in a row anytime during this season, let alone in January.

Then find another team to root for and spare us your incessant whining that never ends.
