Can Dak get the hat trick?

They're not missing the goal. Because the goal is not Super Bowl for them. The goal for them is being able to brag about their favorite player. As long as they can do that they are happy.

Who's "them?' Tag every one of them and ask them that question, and I'll bet you're wrong on all counts. You said it's embarrassing that the OP has created two pro-Dak threads. IMO you're embarrassing yourself here by thinking that it is embarrassing for a member here to create two pro-Dak threads on a forum dedicated to the Cowboys. smh

Hey, Ronnie, I have a question for you. Every since you joined this forum you love to come across as the smartest guy in the room. So, my question for you. Would Dak have the same success if he played for this years Jets team? Or any other losing team this year? Dak is killing it with the Cowboy team, however, is he that great of a QB, or is it a product of the team he plays for?

The only evidence I have is what I have seen.. and what I have seen is that since coming into the league Dak has never had a losing season that he has finished upright. I don't think he would have had any trouble bettering what Dalton and Co did once he went down last year.. What was it 4-7? I believe with Dak that gets reversed. As for how he would do on some other sad sack team? Certainly he would not have as good a record.. because the team stinks.. But the fact remains he's a better player outright than all but a handful of QBs in the league so while I can't say he would have the Lions or the Jags at 4-1 I can all but guarantee you he would not have either team sitting at 0-5. If Dak was with either of those teams, he would be playing at a higher level than Goff or Lawrence and have them winning a couple of games each.. He'd also have the Dolphins, Giants and Texans better than 1-4. He's simply a better QB than any of those teams can put on the field. He's a better passer and better field general and a better overall competitor. Every QB, hell every player owes a bunch of his success to his team.. but that doesn't mean we can't take a step back and see what a guy is doing and give credit for his part ...

Thank you, Sir. Wonderful answer...got to love our Dallas Cowboys.

People keep posting this so I feel I need to clear up one thing.. The passing leader is not the one with the most yards.. It's the one with the highest passer rating. It's not all that celebrated and it doesn't measure anything but passing but it's generally accepted as a strong indicator of good QB play. Our ability to run the ball is only going to HELP Dak in this regard because it allows us to throw in more favorable situations against more favorable coverages.

ThAnk you for clarifying. Then yes he can win that as well. Super MVP is the ultimate goal…

Yes. Dak has absolutely nothing to do with his success on the field. It's the other players carrying him the whole way. It couldn't possibly be the other way around, that other players are having success because of Dak. CD lamb and Cooper threw those perfect passes to themselves. When you refuse to give Dak any credit you sound ridiculous.
I mean this same offense carried Dalton, Gilbert and Dinucci last year. Any QB can step right in and give you the same thing Dak does........

Again...if he has the players your saying its the players if they are not here your saying why cant he make the ones here great....would this Cowboys offense be doing this with the Jets QB?

Yeah it can be difficult.. maybe impossible to isolate a player from the other 52 guys on the roster. But nobody thought that Matthew Stafford "stinks" despite only having 3 winning seasons in 12 years in Detroit did they? Well maybe some people did but most recognize he was a good QB in a bad situation. Just like some people saw Goff having success with McVay holding the training wheels and declared he was better than Dak. Many of us maintained from the jump that this was simply not true.. and it has proven out over time. As hard as it is for some people to accept, Dak has stepped into that rarified air among QBs where you'd have to think long and hard about who you would trade him for straight up. Coming into 2020 there were maybe 9 or 10.. By game 4 or 5 last year it was maybe 4-5 ... At this point.. I would struggle to get past 2 or 3. And not one of them would be a no brainer.. Dak offers us a promise of maybe 10 more years of this level of QB play. Maybe more.. Anybody I'm trading him for would have to be playing at least as well as he is (not a lot of guys on that list) and be able to either a) all but guarantee me a date in the Super Bowl or b) be around playing at this level for at least 5 more years. That's a really really short list.

Comeback player is nearly a lock barring a disaster.

MVP is unlikely - the team around him is just too good. I'm fine with it.

Passing leader - maybe. Who cares.

I do not buy it and would be a cop out for anyone to use that as to justify their position. All the QBs that are in the running for MVP are all surrounded with excellent talent.

But when comparing how much of the offense goes through the QB, it's a consideration. For instance, after watching last night, Lamar Jackson is far more valuable to the ravens than Dak is to the Cowboys right now.

Have you watched Dak at the LOS? He has complete command of what is being run and how it is being run. The offense is run through Dak.

Yes, I've seen it. He makes great calls and does great things. But his job is significantly easier than these other QBs who have little to work with. Which makes them more valuable this season.

Is Lamar your only example of a QB having to work harder?

I have been enjoying our wins these last 4 weeks I forgot to even watch the game last night. I certainly can't argue with the statement that the Ravens ask more of Jackson than the Cowboys ask of Dak. But the second part of being asked to do something is to execute what is asked. I know he got busy last night but overall he is not playing any better than Dak is.. In fact he not throwing it as well as Dak but that 340 rushing yards cannot be ignored. I think he also has more turnovers and fewer total TDs. Plus context matters.. Dak is leading an offense that is AVERAGING almost as many points (34.5) as the Ravens' highest scoring game (36.) But I am not about to dismiss that Jackson belongs in the conversation.. I'm just not willing to concede that just because his team asks him to run 15 times a game he should automatically win it. But if they keep winning at the same rate WHILE he's doing this.. he's going to be hard to wrest it away from.

Yeah. I'm not saying he's a better QB. I'm saying he's more valuable to the Ravens. That's what an MVP is.

Justin Herbert

I dunno about this.. Herbert has two pro-bowl caliber receivers of his own and a really good back in Ekeler. And all us Cowboys fans know how good a pass catching TE ole man Cook is. Not to mention that beast they drafted at left tackle. And the Chargers defense is better than the Cowboys defense to this point.. They are 19th in yards to our 25th and they are 12th in scoring to our 14th. Herbert is obviously really good.. but he's young and makes more mistakes than Dak. But I wouldn't kick him off my team!!!

It's not a reach to say Diggs has been the MVP of this team so far.

You're missing my point. I'm not predicting what our record will be lol. I'm saying if the Cowboys have the best record in the NFL....Dak has a good shot of winning it simply because he's our QB and he has the best record. It will depend how other guys do but as of right now Dak is close in stats with Allen, Herbert and Kyler. I'd say Kyler for sure should be leading because his team is 5-0. The only reason I think his chances will diminish some is because he has to face the NFC West. Going to be some dog fights there and I don't think they sweep their division.

Let's remember in 2014....we ran the ball just as much as we threw the football. Romo and Demarco were in that race...maybe even cancelled each other out but Rodgers year was incredible.

Wasn't that the year that Romo won the Passing title?
