Can Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Cole Beasley live up to the pre-season hype?
By Marcus Mosher
Training camp is a time of infinite excitement in which each NFL team’s (and fans) hopes are sky-high. Training camp reminds me of Christmas morning at my parent’s house when I was younger. I use to run down the stairs to look under the tree as every present brought me uncontained excitement. Each box and package had the potential to be a great prize that will be remembered for the rest of my life. But just like any other kid on Christmas, I soon realized that not every present was going to be as great as the next. Some of those wonderful packages contained socks or outdated outfits I was expected to wear to school. Only a few presents truly lived up to the hype and excitement that occurred in the first moments when I looked upon that tree.
How does this story of my childhood tie into training camp? I often grow tired of reading about how every single player is out-performing expectations in camp, according to the team and coaches. It’s not until we get into the actual season before we realize who actually has made the leap and lived up to all the pre-season hype. This off-season, Cole Beasley is the player in Dallas who has received more hype than any other player. But can he develop into more than just a slot receiver? Does he even need to? Can he become the Cowboys number two receiver and surpass Terrance Williams? Today I want to examine and explain why I believe Beasley should see more snaps in 2015 and why I do believe he will live up to the hype he’s received during camp...
