Can Felix be our full time KR/PR guy this year?

Everyone keeps mentioning how its such a need, but what about Felix? I think its more than clear that he lost his starting job to Murray last year. Now obviously he will still be involved in the offense quite a bit, but shouldnt he be more expendable now that hes the #2 and return kicks and punts?

Just curious what people think about this since I havent hear it brought up yet.

He reportedly has problems fielding punts. So no to that.

But I do think he should be our kick returner this year. He's got the dynamic ability and I think having Murray around to take the bulk of the carries will prevent him from saving himself on returns.

10 touches a game on offense and the full time kick returner. That'd be my plan for Felix this year.

Bah... trade him for a decent player on defense and lets roll with Murray and Tanner. He has never done squat with the kick returns.

Tanner over Felix?

You can not be serious.

Wasnt aware of his trouble returning punts, wonder if thats something that could be coached in camp. But yes, theres absolutely no reason he shouldnt return every kick.

I think it was two training camps ago that they tried this. Maybe three camps. Somebody will remember it. The reports were Felix always has had problems fielding punts in college and he didn't look any better at it in camp.

There's something to be said for just having a reliable punt returner. Those plays are a fumble waiting to happen.

If it gives us a strong player on defense... yes, I am VERY serious. What has Felix ever done for this team? He is always getting injured and is inconsistent. Lets see.. this year he has ran out of bounds on 4th down when time was running out in game (He thought it was 3rd down), he stayed in bounds in another game when we were trying to stop the clock, he fumbled on our own 5 yard line against the Giants in the first game allowing them to get an easy TD, he gets injured twice this year and one of them keeps him out for 4 games, etc.

I like Felix in a back up roll only and if we could trade him for a good defensive player, I would do it in a second and roll with Murray/Tanner to make our team stronger.

The times I have seen Felix return kickoffs he looks like he is slowly waiting for the play to develop, just like if was playing running back and someone handed him the ball. I want a guy that is going to take off running like he is on a suicide kamikaze mission. But the most important part is not fumbling the ball.

I like the idea of getting something now for a player who probably won't be here after this year. But I'd have to see who that defensive player is and even if I made that trade I'd want something better than Tanner backing up Murray.

I don't think he could be the punt returner, but they could give him another shot at KR. Even then, Harris looked better late in the year.

Not all teams have 2 stud running backs. I don't think we have seen enough of Tanner to fully judge him. From the little that I did see, he runs very hard and looks hungry. A lot of people thought Felix was the best running back on the team at the beginning of the season in 2011 but once Murray started getting the touches that quickly changed... in my mind anyway. I'm convinced Murray is going to turn into an amazing RB...one that we can finally count on. Tanner's story hasn't completely unfolded yet.

He returned seven kickoffs last year and had a 69-yarder.

He returned 16 in 2008 and had a 98-yarder for a touchdown.

But go ahead and stick with your answer.

Felix is a very good KR man. He has even stated that he has lost a few pounds so hopefully is back at a weight where you hold your breath when he turns the corner.

2008? Dude.. no offense but we are in 2012. He had 1 good return last year.. big deal. We can certainly find better.

He would be good for 1 or 2 returns on the year, but we need another option because he won't stay healthy.

Bottom line. This team can not count on Felix. He can't stay healthy long enough to be a positive factor on this team.
