Can Green's Technique be fixed

After watching Bob Sturm's film breakdown, on Dallas Morning News, of Green's horrible performance it's obvious that his technique was atrocious! His footwork was horrible and he had a tendency to drop his head every time he tried to engage any Falcon DE.
He looked like a 2nd string High Schooler.
The question is, can that be corrected, and in a short time?
He was very serviceable as Tyron's backup last year when he was out for games.
I guess the best we can hope is that Green was extremely rusty and that he is able to make necessary corrections in his Technique.
I'm sure the coaches were surprised by his lackluster performance because they've seen what he can do in previous games and practice. It's like they were hoping he could settle down and correct his issues during the game but it never happened. I think that's why they waited so long to pull him.

I hope so. I wonder about all the injuries to his lower body of late, hip, ankle, etc. He may be gone next year if he is not fixable.

I'm betting against Chaz Green. Sorry, but I see a fragile player, both physically and mentally. No grit, no determination, and no confidence. No "dog" in him.

That's why, despite his early struggles, I still have some measure of faith in Taco Charlton. I think he does have fight in him. The determination to take his lumps, keep working, and get better. Will Taco ever be great? Will he ever be worth the pick? I can't say for sure. But I do feel that he won't fail for lack of trying or being too weak to handle it.

But that's what I see in Chaz Green.

And it won't shock me if and when this staff is actually starting Byron Bell this week because Green has gone into the tank.

If the staff has not noticed his poor footwork and bad hand placement by now and needed to see it in a live game, they are a worse staff than we given the credit for.

It would be interesting to know if he was exhibiting the bad technique during practice.
If he wasn't then as I said, the coaches may have been surprised by his performance

When he has filled in before, in limited times, he did not look that bad.

Now you have to wonder also...

Did they have him battle with Cooper because they thought Cooper might not be good enough to win the spot...or did they have him compete with Cooper because they did not think Green could be a good swing tackle.

Many questions and we may never found out the truth on it.

I agree on the mentally weak part.

I honestly don’t see how a mentally tough player allows themselves to get absolutely embarrassed and destroyed over and over again like that.

A player with some fight and some balls would have gotten pissed and in my mind, done everything they could to stop it from happening.

He was even getting beat by the same move for crying out loud. You would think he would get pissed, over compensate to stop the outside rush and then get beat inside by the DE. But that didn’t even happen.

He didn’t even try shoving the DE as the DE was going around him and smearing Dak to the turf.

He laid the QB out to dry all game long. That’s not somebody I would want backing me up in a fight. That’s for sure.

Hopefully last week was an anomaly.

I always thought he was a solid player that couldn’t stay healthy based on what little time we have seen him in the lineup. If he’s a bad player that can’t stay healthy, he needs to find a new team.

I pray somehow Smith is back and we don’t have to worry about this.

At some point you have to attack the wide nine technique by running the ball.

It's the equivalent of knocking a basketball team out of the press by beating the press. Gotta make em pay for that.

If he's a pro, then yes. It's not about getting it to 100%, but as a pro, you should be able to make technique adjustments week to week with the help of tape, coaches, and other professional players.

If he gets another chance and is as terrible as he was against the Falcons, then he needs to be cut because he's not a professional player.

As Adrian Clayborn noted, Chaz Green is technically challenged by the lack of correct hand placement and poor footwork. That's on the C'boys' coaching staff to correct and they have failed in that capacity. If that's not enough, Green is also challenged by his physical inability to implement lateral movement and a fragile mental makeup. In short, he obviously should have been replaced in the offseason, imho. Unfortunately, that's on the Dallas FO and staff, as well. The really sad news is that that's way too many problems to correct in one week. :(

It can be, but it depends on the adaptability of the player. Considering that he played well in relief at both tackle spots last year, we know the ability is there to at least be serviceable. I'm not sure where the bad habits came from, maybe some of it was part of the transition at guard, but sometimes players can shake them quickly and some time they have a hard time wrapping their head around what they are doing differently/wrong.

There was nothing Green showed last year that indicated he needed to be replaced, other than his inability to stay healthy. If we want to say that was a good reason to replace him, I'm fine with that. But as a player, he looked worthy of challenging for a starting spot.

I disagree in that his pass blocking has always been overly suspect an that hasn't changed. I would have sent him packing last offseason.

Guys I hate to tell you, but you can't teach quicker lateral footwork to someone who's 300+ lbs.

You either have it or don't. Chaz could NOT get himself moving wide - he looked like a drunk guy leaning back the way he was coming from.

He's the same guy he was when he signed with Florida. Check the book on him, above average athleticism but issues with strength and technique. Is he really interested in Football?
