Can Marist be a MLB and put Overshown as an OLB?

Goodness knows it's already been said that agent 0 is playing MLB for us. I'm terrified for him taking on blocks when he's better running sideline to sideline! I think we should reevaluate Marist just being an OLB. It seems like we're just trying to find a position for him. Yes he's a bit erratic at times, but he gets to the ball and he's physical.

With Zimmer Marist had promise, with FLUS he didn't. I think there's still hope for the kid. Please give your input

Liufau seems to have bad instincts, like Murray, so I think they want to put him at a position where he doesn't have to think as much. The ILBs have to read the play and fill the right hole. The OLBs have to read run or pass, but they generally have their assigned lane or know where they are supposed to attack.

Nakobe Dean played MLB last year for Philly at 5-11, 230 pounds. Overshown has really good height in comparison but is similar in weight. Ultimately, I don't think Overshown will be the MLB. I think Barham will end up in the position in the 3-4 sets with Overshown at the other ILB spot, which is more like WLB in this scheme where he's more free to run to the ball. I think Winters will be out there when we use 4-2-5 sets because he and Overshown are better in coverage than I expect Barham to be, especially as a rookie.

Coog - he played a dozen games MLB already

There’s a reason why they are moving him outside

If he’s the Mike in this new defense we’ve got a problem

Very good points, just can't see how his frame holds up against inside offensive lineman coming after him all the time!

What about Sam Williams? The Zone hates him like poison
Well he's done such great things and given good headaches what's there not to love about him!!

Like I said he's erratic maybe flus great defense had something to do with it!!

ML shows very little discipline or
instinct for the NFL. Guy runs around with little clue. I think his best position is on the waiver wire.

I think Marist will be a better inside backer than outside. I think O is a little too light to be an OLB in this scheme. But we'll see soon enough.

Honestly I think many feel the same way, hopefully he shows us something different! For a guy that battles injuries, putting him right in the middle to battle is scary

I’m not counting on Liufau for much at all. Realistically he might be in need of an injury ahead of him on the depth chart in order to make the initial final cuts. Hes a solid depth piece that can play a role on special teams…outside of that he’s been pretty horrible his first two years. Now switching positions and supposedly playing at a new weight is likely going to be an uphill battle for a player most likely on the roster fringe.

The better conversation in my mind is what you do with Overshown. The general consensus seems to be he’s getting all his snaps in at MLB but I’d keep a close eye on this. Back from his first press conference CP talked a lot about having Overshown be a chess piece and even mention that was a big part of the conversations he had with Jerry and Schottenheimer. I’d pay close attention to if they are moving O to a variety of LB spots during camp.

I think MLB is more of a mystery than we know right now…and may be a combination of players. I’m fairly certain Liufau isn’t part of that vision though.

I think he'd be a better STer/backup

Brother, I don't care what the critics say about Liufau. You are absolutely correct to question why he has been moved from inside LB and wearing the green dot his rookie year to now being moved to the edge where that definitely is not his playing ability position. He is being set up to fail, and that's a damn shame because Liufau truly has some talent if left to play inside LB. Even these 2 well known Cowboys YouTubers are questioning this crazy move while saying the same thing I questioned last week.

This is the second year I have my eye on MLB.

Parker is known as a secondary guy. I want to see what solutions the secondary guy has for MLB. This may be his biggest challenge this season.

The dude who really has to come up with the answers is Scott Symons. Can he actually create a MLB out of the roster Jerry has given him in Overshown, James, Winters and Barham?

Inquiring minds want to know if Dallas can consistently beat run heavy teams late in the season and in playoffs in outdoor cold weather games?

Plenty of reasons, but I’m gonna clean the slate with him.

He is just football stupid, and the fact that he scheduled a victory party before the GB incident and let it get out tells me it might just carry beyond the field.

When they had him flying toward the punter I’d hold my breath every time.
