Can one of you refresh my memory of this cheapshot?

Gramatica Throws Weight Around

June 29, 2007 7:40 PM

The Cowboys apparently lit a fire under Martin Gramatica when they inexplicably drafted a kicker in the sixth round of April's draft.

According to an eyewitness report, the 5-8, 170-pound Gramatica bench-pressed 230 pounds three times without any sign of strain this morning. I'm also told he's added almost five yards to his kickoffs.

Punter Mat McBriar did three reps of 295 pounds before chest-bumping Gramatica into the lats machine at Valley Ranch. McBriar's been inspired by the cheapshot he received from Commanders running back Rock Cartwright last September.
"I've been writing him letters," McBriar said.

It was the second game of the season this past season. That's all I know. Memory is fuzzy.

so the kickers are all pissed and trying to get jacked?

:laugh2:

Id pay to see McBriar get a freebie on someone....the most he could do is what? untie their cleats...

If Gramatica has added 5 to his KO and maintains accuracy, Ill go with him.

no no, he'd untie them from each shoe then tie them together and make the person trip. See he "knocked" them down.

Well it can't be on kick returns because Cartwright returned for us (and I don't see how it can be a cheap shot when you have the ball in your hands)and I don't think he was on the FG blocking unit. Maybe after an onsides kick, but that's a long way to run just to show a kicker what's up.

It must not have been that big a deal if none of us remember.
I mean, I think we'd have a 10 page thread if a cheapshot occurred between Cowboys/Commanders players.

I have no idea what McBriar/Mosley is talking about.

Those classy Commanders seem to have some fetish for showing kickers what's up.

I seem to remember McBriar getting blindsided or something similar after a punt, by Cartwright when the play was like 30 yrds away from them. It wasn't Gramatica getting hit.

I don't see how, Cartwright isn't ever in on punts and if it was Gramatica, Cartwright returned the kicks, so it's literally impossible to have the play like 30 yards away from him.

What's it going to be then, eh?

No, Randle El does.

Nobody is saying Cartwright returns the punts. He could be a blocker on the return unit. I have seen our FB in that role through the years.

I don't think he blocked for it either. I can't be 100% sure, but I remember a couple of defensive players in that role...

I am sure he probably has, but that's your team. Either that or Mat has been sending love letters to the wrong player.

That Sean Taylor is a man's man, I assure you.

Ask tough-guy Brian Moorman.

Gramatica is the one sending the letters. Though I'm not sure what he expects that to accomplish...

McBriar is not Grammatica.

Hey, if you decide to run with the ball in football, your going to get hit. And do you expect Taylor to go easy because it's a punter?
