Can Randle carry the load?

Uh, what? He may have better vision but he's not faster than Murray. That's well documented.

I liked Randle coming into the draft, but after seeing him at the pro level I'm not sure he's fast enough to be very good at this level. Of course he was only a sixth rounder so it's not like he's expected to be great.

I saw where Randle is recorded as running a 4:6 in the 40, trust me he is faster than a 4:6, that day he did he was not, but he is faster than that and faster than Murray.

yes, Dunbar is the quickest and maybe the faster back in the 40, maybe even the 100, but Randle is next he is quicker and faster than Murray, I'm sorry that you cannot see that. Murray still drags his leg from a past knee injury. I'm sorry you dislike the young man, but it is like I have always taught my son, you may not like a player but do not let your dislike keep you from admitting the truth.

oh trust me I wish Randle skill set was better because I am not huge Murray fan. I actually think Dallas is in a bit of a mess at RB position. It would not surprise me if Dallas uses as high as 2nd round pick this year or next on RB. Murray is too fragile and upright running style won't last long. Randle lacks any burst or raw power to be more than 'give starter a breather' guy. Dunbar is too small to carry load.

We need to run the ball to keep Philly's O on the side lines and our D can rest.

No we don't. We need first downs, and those are best achieved through a 65/35 pass-run mix. It's been a passing league for a decade now and some of you still haven't noticed. Even run-loving Bob Sturm is coming around to the reality that this team should be a pass heavy, throw it down the field style of offense.

The title should say, "Can Randle Carry the ball 5-12 times", cause that is about how much they run the ball a game now

I guess we should just take your word on it.

Randle is more of a natural runner than Murray but will not attack the defense like Murray. I think he has better vision but his pass blocking could be a major liability, hopefully they are working on that this week. All in all I think he will be fine if we can just get him some running room. I think he may surprise some people, actually Randle looked pretty good in his minimal time in preseason.

Ok lets c how the 3 and outs work out for us that is whats gonna happens when you take shots down the field all game. Not saying they have to run the ball all game but there always comes a time in a game that you need to control things (ex= your d was just out there for a while or you have a thin d line ) and you do that by running the ball for some first downs.

None of our running backs are that good, Murray just happens to be pretty good at pass protection. In the end, I don't think it matters because it's not like we run the ball anyway.

Running backs don't merit high selection.
1. They don't have long shelf life.
2. Decent ones are in ample supply
3. They rarely are the difference makers in today's NFL.

Consider where the top RB went from this last draft class...The draft went 60 picks deep before a RB was selected. And Lacy hasn't made a huge difference for Green Bay.

Murray/Dunbar is just fine, assuming they secure the rock. RB is not a major area of need for this team. We'll be drafting d-line and safety next spring.

Not so much. Do the math. Stay empirical. If the league is averaging 6 or 7 yards per pass...and 3 or 4 yards per run....it doesn't take a physicist to determine that you want to be dramatically biased towards the pass. That is...if first downs and touchdowns are your objective.

The best runners in the league never average per rush what a middle-of-the-pack passer can give you per play. How many Super Bowls has Peterson carried the Vikings to? Despite the legitimacy of his singular talent...and the secondary hype the league throws his way... he is almost irrelevant when it comes to winning football. And that reality-template is pervasive throughout the sport.
