Brady Quinn, 6-4, 222, Notre Dame
Drew Stanton, 6-2, 230, Michigan State
Jordan Palmer, 6-5, 235, UTEP
Kevin Kolb, 6-3, 220, Houston
Tyler Palko, 6-2, 220, Pittsburgh
Troy Smith, 6-1, 215, Ohio State
Trent Edwards, 6-4, 220, Stanford

Brian Brohm, 6-4, 225, Louisville
Kyle Wright, 6-4, 220, Miami
JaMarcus Russell, 6-6, 250, LSU
Erik Ainge, 6-6, 220, Tennessee
Chad Henne, 6-2 225, Michigan

A simple question and a legitimate one for all the Romosexuals on this forum. Take into account, this may be Parcells last year in Dallas and a whole new coaching staff (system) could be here in 2007.

The question would be more valid if they all entered the league at the same time. You're talking about 4-year vet albeit one short on actual experience vs a fresh out of college rookie QB. A young QB could get the nod over a vet, but many times it's not because of actual production, it's because of promise and potential.

Classic example would be the Titans. Vince Young is not better than Kerry Collins nor Billy Volek RIGHT now. In the future, maybe, but definitely not now.

Kind of like why can't Weinke beat out Delhomme?

Didn't Weinke win the Heisman in college?

Bad example, Volek is not on the Titans anymore BECAUSE of Young and Collins is more comparable to an older Bledsoe...not a young Romo.

BTW, isn't Vince Young the starter now?

Yes, we all know the name of the school the QB attended is the sole factor in his success in the NFL.

If tomorrow, you take all those QB's and Romo and put them through an NFL training camp, I highly doubt that any of those guys would beat Romo out for the position...

Romo knows the NFL now after 4 years...those other guys will still be learning where, or what city, the next game is going to be played!

It's not even close...

Actually I don't think the example is that bad at all. The point is rarely does a young QB fresh out of college come in and win games. Rarely do they give a team a true chance to win...in comparison to a vet. Volek, as horrible as he looked, would've given the team a better chance to win on a weekly basis. Kerry Collins was just getting the hang of the offense after being brought in the week before the season opened before he was benched. But I bet you had they continue to play him, the Titans would win more games with him than with him sitting.

The Titans could very well sneak up on a few people towards the end of this year, but I bet every team they play going forward will look at the schedule and mark W next to their game. Outside of their other deficiencies, Vince Young is not ready...and the team around him is not Steeler-built for him to truly succeed.

Some of them, yes....all of them, no.

If he hasn't learned enough on the bench in 4 years to hold off a rookie, then he's a piece of crap.

The real question is whether or not he'll simply keep the spot warm while a top rookie catches up to him.

True, but none of the QB's you mentioned have won the Heisman and led their team to the National Championship like Weinke did. Plus Weinke was the starter in Caolina and got beat out by an undrafted, Div. 2, qb who had minimal NFL experience.

What you are saying in you initial post is that Romo can't be better than any of those QB's you mentioned because he did not attend a Div. 1 school.

OMG!

Where did I write that?

Would you feel better, if I included some D2 QB's?

You just can't accept the fact, that Romo has done nothing but play in meaningless preseason games that don't count.
