Can someone post the link to the RW hit on Shauny Alexander?

Last season, RW had 3 INT's and 7 passes defensed, with 1 TD. The great Troy Polamalu had 2 INT's, 6 passes defensed, and 0 TD. Last year was Roy's first year playing in the system that Troy's been in for his entire (3 yr) career.
Troy had more Tackles - Sacks - Solo Taks -Assts and Forced Fumbles and a Fat Super Bowl Ring....

"I hope to see less BIG hits from Roy..."

I don't care what was said after this, or what the point was, this is blaspheme.

I'm sorry .... which of those stats has to do with whether one is or is not a "liability" in coverage? ...... EXACTLY!

Dude - don't embarrass yourself Troy P is a FAR better football player than Roy - Roy is not in the Top 6 in the NFL for that matter...He's too heavy and too slow....

The only one embarrassing himself is you. But what else is new.

Why do you bother? Put him on ignore and get into a healthy INTELLIGENT debate with an intelligent person.

You're wasting your time with him.

So you think Roy is a good coverman? You think I'm wrong? you don't hink he's too run oriented? you don't think he plays too close to the LOS? you don't think he's been burned numerous times??
Or did you just not like the fact I pointed out a big fault in one of your favorite player's game? B/C I'l tell ya - I love Roy - I want him to be a team leader - I want him to change games - but you need to make big plays in pass coverage for that ...and as of now Roy is NOT a complete safety.
1. he is a complete safety 2. name 1 safety that hasn't been burned numerous times 3.game changing plays huh how bout lastyear in philly? is that game changing enough? 4. don't get mad cause your giants don't have a decent safety let alone a probowler like roy. 5. **** off:suxjints:

Typical Troll ..... he trys to change the subject when he is losing the argument ........ Just like his "friend" ***un ....

If that does not work he will try "Calling out" a mod so that he can say he is being "abused" by someone with more power than he .......

Trolls all go by the same playbook .....

Dallas Cowboys

Overrated: Williams is a good player when near the line of scrimmage, but he can't be called a top-tier safety because he struggles so much in coverage. He's a decent, not great player. His reputation would lead you to believe he was great.

Underrated: Drew Bledsoe is one of those quarterbacks who always gets picked apart, no matter what he does. But he had a heck of a year for the Cowboys, throwing for 3,639 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Cowboys' Williams Overrated

Cowboys safety Roy Williams is one of the most overrated defensive players in the NFL. Calling the two-time Pro Bowler overrated has been fashionable of late, but it was more clear than ever during Monday night's 14-13 loss to the Commanders.

ABC announcers John Madden and Al Michaels were too busy working on Williams' Hall of Fame induction speech to notice Dallas' hold on the game was slipping late in the fourth quarter. The announcers were justifiably awed by Williams' sack of Commanders quarterback Mark Brunell. But I think Williams buys into the hype about his ability to make big plays (read: big hits) and doesn't concentrate on being a defensive back and play cautious when he has to. Out of desperation late in the game, the Commanders started taking shots downfield and their receivers were getting behind Williams and the Cowboys' defenders, who clearly didn't think Brunell could beat them deep.

With just over four minutes left, Brunell lofted a bomb downfield to Taylor Jacobs that Williams knocked down in the end zone. Madden and Michaels went nuts over the play, until they realized the ball went right through Williams' hands and could have easily been picked off. You can't criticize Williams for not getting the interception, but you have to rip him for letting Santana Moss beat him for 39- and 70-yard touchdowns in the final minutes of the game even though the Cowboys were in prevent mode.

This season has been a showcase for elite safeties. Troy Polamalu, Mike Brown and Brian Dawkins have all had tremendous starts, and Ed Reed and Rodney Harrison continue to play at a high level. The difference between this group and Williams is they excel in every facet of the position. They can all cover as well as they rush the quarterback and deliver big hits on running backs. Williams isn't even an average cover safety.

There's nothing wrong with not being a perfect player. But Williams is considered the face of the Cowboys' young defense, and he'll probably be named to the Pro Bowl annually. He's a ferocious blitzer and he can change games with his hitting ability. The question is does he help the Cowboys win week in and week out? No matter what Michaels and Madden say, the answer is no.

Many would agree w/ me but here's just a few ...

your just mad cause your giants don't have 1 good player in your secondary

This hit means what exactly ? Guys get hit big and bounce up...Do we have Roy getting burned on MNF & by Shockey? I hope to see less BIG hits from Roy and more BIG deflections and knockdowns of passes ...IMO Roy is a liability anytime the ball is passed.

I have a feeling Shaun didn't walk back to the huddle asking for more passes to him thrown in "the liability's" direction.

Just because some idiot posts an article, doesn't make it true.

Ronnie Lott is quoted as saying that Dallas Cowboys safety Roy Williams is the best safety in the league and his favorite player to watch.

Hmmmm ..... who am I gonna listen too?

Some reporters from New York and Washington (the Cowboys arch rivals) ......;)

Or the best safety to ever play the game?

Keep trying Troll.

In response to X-Hog's garbage articles...

Vela's take on it. I'd say he's a little more credible than some Deadskins homer from CBS.

http://theboysblog.com/2005/09/20/how-to-lose-a-game-in-five-easy-steps/

1) With Washington in a second and ten deep in its own territory at the five minute mark, DC Mike Zimmer switched out of his 4-2-5 nickel and brought SS Roy Williams on a blitz out of his base 3-4 set. Williams dropped Mark Brunell for a 17 yard loss. It was the last time Zimmer would blitz in the game, and his reliance on the four man rush the rest of the way would cost him. His aggressive calls had kept Brunell off balance all game, sacking him five times. The Commanders line neutalized the four rushers, in part because they could identify them, and Brunell was able to stand and deliver deep down field the rest of the game.

2) With Washington facing a fourth and three two plays later, after a 24 yard Brunell scramble, he brought the team to the line in a bunch formation left. James Thrash came in motion right to left and set just outside the left tackle. Terence Newman came with him in man-to-man coverage. For some reason, Newman stopped and peeked into the backfield at the snap, perhaps expecting a run. He left Thrash run free and Brunell floated an easy completion to him for 20 yards.

3) After a procedure penalty moving Washington back five yards, Brunell threw deep down the left hash mark into triple coverge. Roy Williams backpedaled, timed his jump correctly and looked ready to intercept the ball. It slid between his hands and bounced off his facemask. The Commanders scored three plays later over Williams on a fourth-and-15 from the Dallas 39.

4) Dallas got the ball and converted one first down on a Julius Jones run that was supplemented by a facemask penalty. Facing third-and-8 from the Dallas 45, Drew Bledsoe found Keyshawn Johnson for a sliding 17 yard completion to the Commanders 38. The pass was negated by a holding penalty on Flozell Adams, which led to a punt.

5) Brunell burned Dallas again two plays after the punt with a 70 yard pass. The Cowboys had 2:35, a time out and good field position after Tyson Thompson returned the kickoff to the Washington 48. But on fourth and four, Terry Glenn committed the fundamental receiver sin — running his route at three yards. He was tackled short of the stripe and Washington had control of the game.

Notes:

Washington may have found a major chink in Dallas’ armor in the final minutes. Both TD passes came against corner Aaron Glenn, who had suspect help from Roy Williams over the top. The Commanders could not dent Anthony Henry or do much against Terence Newman, but they isolated Santana Moss on Glenn and burned him. Expect other teams to try this as well.

Derrick Dockery is supposed to be the Commanders best young OL, if line coach Joe Bugel’s raving this week mean anything. But he was abused by Chris Canty and LaRoi Glover on passing downs.

The loss obscured impressive games for Canty and Marcus Spears, who shows some push on passing down.

Dude, all you have been doing lately is bashing different Cowboys players. I'd love to see you try to cover Billy Cundiff running a route. No one is perfect, not even over-rated Ed Reed.

X-Dawg, meet Pola's Jock. Pola's jock, meet X-Dawg.

Hysterical! And what's more, cut Pola's hair and he's just a real good safety. Somehow he gets all kinds of cred because his hair waves SO purty when he runs.

As for finding Cowboy haters to quote as proof sources, you shouldn't have much trouble there. Winners make easy targets, and the press is LOUSY with Cowboy bashers. Hell, I remember when Dallas was winning Super Bowls in the early 90's reading some journo that thought neither Aikman, Irvin or Smith was in the top 10 in the NFL at their position!

Sorry to hammer away at you, dude, but you are seeming a bit of a hater here. Roy is a STRONG safety after all, not a FREE safety. He's not likely to end up with 8-10 INT's a year, but he's definitely good to blow up a few people here and there!

Ed Reed is the only other safety i would rather have then R.Williams. of course they play different safety positions but still. but this guy couldn't cover pat williams of the vikings (weighin in at like 317 lbs)
