Can the Cowboys force Bland to move back to the slot?

He’s washed. He falls down all the time trying to stay with below average WRs. The fact that he’s getting the snaps he is proves it’s about his contract and not merit.

He’s already shown that he can’t play effectively on the outside. Either move him to the slot and see if he can contribute there, or move on from him.

I don’t think that’s madness. It’s about finding out whether he can still be productive in this league. He should be held to the same standard as every other player: perform or risk being cut. If that means taking a salary cap hit, so be it. There’s no point in holding onto a player and continuing to give him playing time simply because you’re afraid to cut him.

I know we love our guys. We need to get over it.
Move on from him

We don't need to turn failure into bigger failure

It was about injuries. As we get some players back we will see how actual merit is taken into consideration.

It's going to come to a point where I'm injury issues can't be excuses
I hope so. It would help to have Durant practicing. Not sure how much we have healthy now behind Porter, and Revel.

Plus all these pansies catch a cold and need a week off.

Of course they can force him, he has to play wherever they want him to play. But i think that Bland's left foot injury that has bothered him the last couple years has now left him vulnerable and not able to cover professional receivers like he used to. It was a fracture which is a very serious injury especially for a DB.

If he can't keep up with the speed of the wide receivers and lost mobility to cover slot receivers, then what do you got? You have a legitimate weakness. And he is not gonna get better, he is healthy. What you see is what you'll get from now on. Will Dallas be stuck with playing him and suffer the consequences, or will they cut him after this season and eat the remainder of the contract? I would just put him in the slot and take my chances there for this year.

We all know several years ago, Bland made a HUGE name for himself by getting INT's from the slot position. Now with making the move to be a CB, it seems that he's struggled, but his pride is telling him, CB is where I need to be, and not the slot. With that said, can the Cowboys make a move on his behalf to get him back to the slot, and to see if he can be the player he was for us several years ago? We have Durant and others coming back to take over the regular CB spots. Can this be done, or do we have to continue to watch Bland suffer??? Please give your input
Lol,
Dallas has no intention of moving Bland to slot for multiple reasons.
Bland started a whopping 10 games at slot, 8 were during his rookie season after Lewis was hurt and 2 in his 2nd season before Diggs tore his ACL. The belief that he's a slot corner is a belief built on fallacy.

Even if he was better at slot (he's not) they paid him to be the #2 outside corner.

A lot of his issues this season stem from a combination of having to cover too long and blown coverage by someone else. He's not going to get the help the scheme is designed to give him anymore at slot than he's been getting outside.

They dropped a top 10 pick on a guy to play nickel in this scheme.
He flashed over the first 3 games. They moved him to free the last 2 games and he has completely disappeared.
He's also the safety who was responsible for inside help on Bland's TD to Collins who inexplicably dropped down to help double cover the check down receiver!
