OT tackles allowing only 7% pressure rate

Blame them for what? It’s not like he’s played bad this year……anyone honest would say it’s the D.
Right lol. I hate when people do that lol. If anything people complain about the run blocking. Dak has been up and down but hasn’t been bad. They just have to force Dak in every conversation.

I struggle understanding people blaming Dak when the defense is RIGHT THERE

Its like blaming Jared Goff when Detroits defense is actually worse than Dallas
People do that with Goff too and I don’t get it. I guess it’s because they don’t have rushing yards but Goff is damn good too.

They are always saying he is under constant pressure.

When there is pressure, I think a lot of it is the TEs.
He is under pressure at times just like every other qb. Steele is constantly on skates even with help but i don’t think he’s been as bad people say.

This data comes from NFL Pro, which is the NFLs data arm that uses Next Gen stats so there’s actually good tech behind it, but it lacks a human element. They track microchips in shoulder pads and the ball. Here’s how they define a pressure.
  • A Pressure: This is an umbrella term. A play is flagged as a pressure if a defender executes a sack, a QB hit, a hurry (getting within 1.5 yards), OR if the defender is within 2 yards of the quarterback at the exact split-second the ball leaves the passer's hand.
PFF
As to the more commonly cited PFF, it can’t be trusted. Cris Collinsworth, the principal owner, sold all of their tech to Teamworks and then fired almost all their employees.

PFF is now essentially a zombie shell company that pays Teamworks to feed that data into its AI managed website.

Teamworks didn’t hire any of rhe actual analysts and quality control people in the deal. They just have a bunch of entry level contractors working from home, churning out the grades as fast as possible.

Sports Information Systems (SIS)

If you want human graded film study with legit football people doing it, you want SIS

If you want scientific data collection, using tech like microchips in shoulder pads and the football, you want Next Gen Stats (NFL Pro)

Both are much better than PFF

V helpful. Thanks

It does appear the problem with Cowboys when it comes to pressure is stunts up the middle. Overall our pass blocking has been among the best in the NFL.

this entire thread is about the offense. D is a separate subject and has no place in this conversation.

The interior 3 have been a big part of the problem as they do not handle twists and stunts well at all. Steele has at times also been a problem when his guy twists or loops inside. His actions and communication is critical even though Booker gets the ding for a bad block.

Data is plural. Datum is singular.

It is "these data," not "this data."
In standard english usage, “data” is perfectly acceptable as a mass noun.

Language evolves.

But if I wanted to be pedantic …

Nuts is plural. Nut is singular.

It is “deez nuts”, not “deez nut.”

To be fair ...... "Dak girl" Yobwocs mentioned Dak in this thread first ........ he was trying to give Dak credit for the o-line.

Steele has been better in pass pro than Guyton?

Everything you need to know about these “ratings.”
That's not really what numbers tell us and nor does it mean they are wrong. First off, can you point to Steele being so bad this year in pass protection or are you going by your opinion of him coming into the year? I'm not saying he has been great of course, but the number I keep finding as per searches is that Steele has allowed 7 pressures and 1 sack. There might also have been many other plays where he was beaten but the ball came out quickly so no pressure was recorded. Also, some of those 7 pressures could have been really bad, game altering pressures where Dak was hit or forced to make a poor throw or plays where he was beaten so badly that the play was immediately killed. All pressures are not the same is the point. Stats aren't wrong just because you don't like them, nor do they tell something other than what they tell. It also works in your favor as an OL on plays where the QB rolls away from you or when you get help and pressures are less likely. Point being stats aren't biased, nor are they all encompassing

Ok my mistake I didn’t see that and he’s no better. I hate that forcing Dak into everyone I never thought I’d say it but let’s just stick to Dak sucks threads…this was suppose to be about how well Guyton is playing lol.

with how long it takes for Dak to process at times its amazing how the oline has held up

Guyton was pretty bad against Tampa. Steele has been good most of the year.

Small sample size, one game can skew those things.

Depends on how they count it....... maybe if Dak gets rid of the ball before the tackle could get around... it's not counted as a pressure. But I would say Steele has had some bad plays this year that looked egregious on tape, but maybe they weren't that many. Just egregious enough for us to remember it, but maybe they weren't more than 4 or 5. But I would agree offensive line has been solid this year except for the Bucs game.
Perhaps you are finally seeing the light, that a solid OL heavily influences the success rate of a QB and is a huge reason for Dak's success.......

I find that hard to believe....I don't think Guyton has been beat maybe but 3 or 4 times all season. He's really turned it around in a good way.
