At home last year they averaged 29.3 and only 23.5 away for an average of 26.6

I think they will average 32 at home this year and 25 away for an average of 28.5

I dont see it. Its not a fast paced offense. In fact 26 per game in a grind it out offense is very impressive

I think the offense can be shored up a bit here and there. Dak and Dez's chemistry, the RT position, and more big plays from TWilliams, like in 2014. But what will put us in the Super Bowl are improvements to the defense

Your point has some merit, but i think we will be a little bit more explosive this year in terms of big plays, as Dak gets acclimated and makes defenses pay for stacking the line. Zeke catching more passes will be part of that

The team would also be moronic not to implement the halfback pass at least once per game as well to keep defenses from selling out to stop the run.

The only way I see it is if we get a lot of turnovers and pick 6's. It's a run first offense and said throughout this thread we want to keep the offense on the field as long as possible.

The Cowboys had quite an offense in 2016, when Dak Prescott took the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award after posting the third-best passer rating and total QBR behind Matt Ryan and Tom Brady, Ezekiel Elliott led the NFL in rushing, and the O-line won the inaugural Offensive Line of the Year Award.

The 2016 Cowboys scored 421 points, the 10th-most in franchise history, for a cool 26.3 points per game average. That wasn't quite enough to reach the 30-point per game threshold, but it was the fifth-best total in the league last year, and a little over a field goal shy of that 30-point threshold.

Why fixate on those 30 points? Because since realignment in 2002, and after the Greatest Show on Turf averaged more than 30 points per game for three consecutive years from 1999-2001, only 18 teams have averaged more than 30 points per game (which translates to 480 points per season), and all but one of those teams made the playoffs.

I'm expecting 30 per half.

I think Cowboys will be one of the top offense like they were last season. However not expecting 30 points a game Cowboys have some tough defenses they will be facing this season.

Doubtful unless defense and special teams can score. Defense would have to score an average about 2 points a game and the ST (return game) about 1 point.

there will be times where they would try to score more points if the offense was the pass oriented style of today. That is always risky because the ball and the game could go the other way. And haven't we experienced that.

When they are ahead in the 4th quarter, they will adopt the other strategy, the one Instead of scoring. The Cowboys will simply hog the ball, take the time off the clock and walk away winners.

They won't average 30 points a game because they won't have to.

I think this makes the most sense.

Good point. I'm pretty sure we had a grand total of zero non-offensive touchdowns last season.

If we could start to get some pick-6's or some fumble scoops for TD's I would be delighted.

Of course we will, because the defense will be much better than last year IMO. This will give us more TOP and more opportunities on offense.

They may well need to do so at least until the DBs get on track. A lot depends on the DL. Yes, we're talking offensive output but you have to get off the field esp if they are going to play like last year. I think if they play more 4 sets and open it up some more they can not only score 30PPB but could even push towards 35PPG which is rare company. I think 27-31PPG is more realistic but you never know.

A lot depends on turnovers esp on defense. We have to get off the field and allow the offense to play. I do expect a Sc% of greater than 40 and maybe closer to 50. The offense is going to be exciting.

The defense does not need to score but an extremely short field would help also whether the resulting drive is a fg or TD. As far as I am concerned a turnover returned to 25yd line is at least 3 points
