Can this finally close the book on 2016 please?

Zeke has been dependable to get 1st downs and has been great on goal to go. Dak has not. Dak has been lame at trying to convert critical points of the game. He should just know better at this stage what to do even if the wrong play is called. This was an unforgivable performance for such an important game and should be the end of the road for Dak. It is time for him to join the NFL carrousel of teams looking for some hope where others gave up.

Instead of trying to replace Dak now, how about trying to put a better team around him? You think the 49ers won 8 straight because Brock Purdy is so great? Same with Jalen Hurts. Both organizations have set their QBs up good.

The mistakes Dak made were on him. Even Randy Moss won't help if the QB can't see him open or throws picks.

If Jerry had traded up to get Paxton Lynch, it would have saved us from the Dak Era (and also Jaylon Smith). Worst-case, Paxton still ends up a bust anyway and we end up with a high pick after Romo is done.

It’s a shame that Romo didn’t get one last chance to make a SB run with the team once he was back healthy again. It’s too bad we don’t have the hindsight of knowing if Romo could have pulled that one off.

The good thing about the lack of salary cap was that Jerry could just buy a great team. But in the salary cap era, you have to draft good, hire excellent coaches, and build a team around a great QB, which Jerry is awful at. The good thing about today's cap is that you can go from a bum to super bowl champs nearly overnight, if your GM is willing to either Tank for great QB play, or hire a top-of-the line coach and give said coach the power he needs.

Just like Jerrah held on to his boy wonder Garrett for far too long, he's done the same with this illusion that the two rookies of 2016 Dak and Zeke are going to lead us to the promised land one day.
Hack the Eagles have been in the Super Bowl since then and yet completely moved on from the quarterbacks and running backs they had and they are at the top of the heap again. Meanwhile our doddering old fool lives in the past.

Jerry thinks, but doesn't realize how competitive and innovative this league is. You need to build teams in 2 years, not 4-5 and never really build because the wind blew by.

Bet the Rams look like a team again in 2 years when they can finally draft while trading some of their aging marquee players.

As much as im not sold on Dak leading this team ever to a Championship Game.

This team cant upgrade at QB for quite some time. Team is too good to pick Top 3 which you essentially need to draft a franchise QB, which than still is not a given.

I mean the 49ers are winning with a 7th Round QB. But that requires elite coaching and elite team parts everywhere else. Neither which the cowboys have and will have. Not as long as Jerry and son still run the show.

So again Jerry will try to ride this as long as possible.

Zeke is easily replaceable Dak is not.
Dak is easier to replace than Zeke.
Dak is easier to replace than any other player.
He is not NFL caliber, and most rookies from a pro style college offense would be better within a few weeks.
Zeke has more talent than most give credit for. He really is still a top back because of his experience and power running.

Not saying he’s the answer, just saying Dak is replaceable.
Rush isn't the answer, that's true. Dak, league leader in interceptions, isn't the answer either. The answer isn't on our team and we need to find that answer.

I said this in another thread. 17 interceptions in 14 games. That's rookie numbers. 12 points in a playoff game, again that's rookie numbers.

For comparison sake in 2003 Quincy Carter played 16 games and had 21 interceptions. In the playoff loss to the Panthers Carter threw for 154 yards and 1 pick.

If Dak did not get injured he could have easily topped 21 interceptions. Tonight Dak threw for 206 yards and 2 interceptions.

Let that sink in. Dak is in Quincy Carter territory. Dak is a slightly better version of Carter except every 1 in 5 games he blows up against a weak team. Against good teams and pressure games he's the 2nd coming of Quincy Carter and not the 2nd coming of Aikman.

We need to move on and take the L with Dak. It's over, the Dak tenure has failed. 7 years is a good sample size. We need to make changes. He's also regressing physically and mentally. It sucks but it's time to face reality.

Worst owner in Sports, yet pampered by the Dallas media. Country club deference. Every interview With Jerry should start with: when are you going to hire a real GM?

I'm all for it if it means getting rid of rest of the JG's stench for good. But I don't trust the clowns who thought Quinthy, Chad and Drew were going to be the next Troy. The same clowns who wanted to draft Menzel and Paxton Lynch.

Are there any QBs in the coming draft who are certain to become franchise QBs? If so, are we in a position to move up to get them? If they're that promising, what are the odds that they would fall to us? We have to move on, but I seriously question how that can happen.
Where was Brock Purdy drafted again?

Yeah. That's all I got
Ok I lied, goodbye Quinn thanks for a great and fun to watch defense . You evaluated your players all season then opened a can of whoop arse in the playoffs.

No doubt. Those two picks cost Dallas the game. Or was a big part of it. But we're still going into these games as the inferior team. It's an uphill battle where we're hoping they play their best. I'd love to go into one of these divisional games and say, yeah, I think we can win this. Not I hope we can win. The last time I thought that was 2007. Maybe 2016 to some extent. Doesn't mean you'll win, obviously, but at least you know you have the team that can win without having to get lucky.

I disagree.

The Cowboys D balled out. Kept Mccaffrey and Deebo in check as much as could he desired on the road.
Special teams gave Prescott the ball around the 49ers' 20 yard line (field goal)

Apart from Diggs who played soft and missed an easy interception, you can't expect to play much better on the road against a team that built a defensive front 7 with countless #1 draft picks after the team tanked for a few years.

Prescott lost this game. A competent NFL QB wins this game for the Cowboys. Purdy played like Rush and there wasn't a gulf between the two teams.

After watching the entirety of that game, it is hard to argue this point. We were just as good as them but for our QB. But like it or not, we have him at least another year or two.

I give Jerry a pass for signing Zeke. Zeke put Jerry in a bad position by holding out and he had won the rushing title 2 out of his first 3 years.

The Dak deal was more reckless and Dak was coming off a horrific injury to boot. Letting Dak move on would have been terribly unpopular, but in hindsight it would have been the right move.
