Can Trey Lance be moved?

If the Cowboys did QB development normally, that would be one thing. But Trey Lance is the next franchise QB on the cheap project. Lance will be your #2 next season with Cowboys playing the odds that Dak will get injured at some point. Lance is not going anywhere.

Nobody would even give us what we gave up for Lance. We were the high bidders a month ago.....nothing has changed since then as he hasn't played.

Vikings don't care about him....they'd rather have someone with experience if they're actually going to try and still compete.

Maybe....MAYBE.....some team might give us a 6th or 7th for him. Jerruh gave a high pick for this bust.....other teams aren't that dumb.

I disagree we didn't over pay for Lance. Heck of deal for a player that hasn't really given a chance since he was injured. I don't want to hear Shanahan is a mastermind and if you can't play with him then you are a dud and can't play Qb somewhere else. The 49ers are showing that Shanahan has no clue what is going on now. I think Trey Lance will surprise when given a chance.
That's what you WANT to happen. And it's not a certain 0% chance he won't succeed....but he's shown nothing as a pro, over and above 100 other 2nd, 3rd string and Practice Squad QBs out there in the league, to indicate he will be any better as a starter than the zillion other QBs that populate every team's bench and Practice Squad, that have no business as your QB1.

People are acting like he's this steal we got over on everyone. Hahaha! It's ok to wish for a lotto ticket result with him...but it's silly to act like "we've got our future QB". There's a reason none of the other teams (especially those with REAL GMs) wanted him.

If that's REALLY the plan.....then short of the 1 or 2% chance of him becoming legit actually happening, get ready for a bunch of 5-12 seasons.

I mentioned this last night after the game....The viking aren't going to bring Cousins back next year and the Vikings like Trey Lance, if the Vikings came calling, Dallas should listen..

Vikings need a QB, there is talk around NFL that Minnesota should trade for Trey Lance since he is a Minnesota boy and might fit their offense.. Doubt Jerry would trade him, I could see Rush being moved before Lance but who would want Cooper Rush. No one last year were interested.
No one will be interested in trading for either one of them. The 49ers were actively trying to trade Lance, and no one wanted him until we offered them a 4th round pick. He’s a project and hasn’t even been with the Cowboys long enough to be ready to start and win games. He’s not going to do Minnesota any good.

How exactly is trey cheap franchise QB? He will make 5 million next year as a backup, that is cheap but he won't be starting. Then he is a free agent or the Dallas Cowboys will have to pay him, and how cheap do you think that will be?

Dallas stole him.

Heck some niner fans want him back.

You keep him and develop.
Develop him for what though? If Jerry extends Dak like he keeps saying( not my choice) because of the contract money next year is detrimental to the cap, he won't get a chance to start in Dallas if Dak is extended....

The Cowboys only have him for the rest of this year and next. He is a FA and likely to move on if Dak remains as the starting QB. Hard to develop a QB if the QB is only getting 2nd and 3rd team limited reps.

“The Cowboys assumed the final two years of Lance’s guaranteed rookie contract in the trade,” Archer detailed on October 4, 2023. “He is making $940,000 this season and is guaranteed $5.31 million in 2024.

I would maybe trade him for a high first or a 1st and a 2nd-- that's it.

Having a young, high pick on the roster with no pressure is such a nice place to be in.

No one has a clue of what Lance can develop into to, he's never really proven what he can do at any level. He's athletic but still very raw.
He threw 99 passes in High School, his entire 3 year college career he threw 318 passes and 102 passes as a pro, that's only 519 passes, since puberty.

To put that into more context, Dak's senior year he had 477 pass attempts almost as many as Lance has had his entire life. Even more context, Mahomes last year at Tech, he had 591 attempts.

This kid is no where near ready to be a starting NFL QB, he's a work in progress.

A 3rd would be great, a lot of dreamers on here.
Nobody was willing to give a 4th except us just a month-ish ago.

Nothing has changed since then.

That means, at the very best, maybe some other team thought he was worth a 5th rounder but got outbid by Jerruh.

He's not worth more because WE are trading him, than he was when SF was trading him a mo th ago.

If anything...he's worth less....because everyone knows Jerruh is an old fool that's easily bamboozled in trades, and will be trying to offer him a 7th rounder in 2035 and a bag of magic beans.

He’s as useful as breasts on a fish. He is never going to start an NFL games at quarterback or any other position. Not for the Cowboys or any other NFL franchise.

We already fooled them once. I don’t think they’re trading again.
