Can we beat the Colts in a shootout?

Just curious to hear your opinion on a potential shootout match with Manning company. I wonder if Parcells and coaching staff are devising a couple of gameplans - one with keeping the game close as Parcells like to do; or a worse case scenario where the Colts are putting up points that prevents us from staying with being conservative.

Say the Colts come firing out and are up 10-0 or more. Do you scrap the ball-control gameplan or do you start to panic and unleash Romo? And if we're forced to have a shootout match, do you think we can stay up with the Colts?

Based on what Romo has shown with this offense, I'm somewhat confident we can stay close providing we don't shoot ourselves in the foot by committing drive-killing penalties.

Your thoughts?

In the only game Romo had where he threw the ball almost exclusively he threw three picks. We need to run a balanced offense; it's who we are.

Their run defense is so bad we can still run a balanced offense in a 'shootout' type situation.

OTOH, that's Payton Manning over there. I like Romo as much as the next guy but that's not a sandbox we want to play in.

Lets not kid ourselves. We arent on the same level as the Colts. Manning is a multiple pro bowl QB and Romo is making his 4th start. We have to play flawless football on both sides and hope that we get a break or two to have a shot.

If Manning starts slinging the ball at will it will be an embarrising afternoon to be a Cowboys fan.

We need to resist the temptation to try and match them big play for big play. We need time eating drives to keep Indy's offense off the field.

No we can't. An injured Glenn, a fumble prone Crayton, and "50/50" Owens do not compare favorably to the Colts' receiving crew. You can throw stats at me all day long, but who would YOU rather be throwing to in a clutch situation?

On the real, I should hope Julius Jones will get the rock around 20 to 30 times this ball game because he could have a career day against their horrible run defense!

Again, that Chiefs game last year was a shootout. They lost on a last game winning FG. I think we can win if we get th ball last.

To be fair - that was Romo's first game. Given, he did try to press too much with his Favre impersonation, but with a gameplan tailored to his strengths, we may see a different player this time around.

But I see your point - stay the course and don't get in a shootout match.

I feel the same way. Romo can move the chains and get us in a position to win.

But in a straight shootout match where our defense can't stop Manning?
