Can We Involve Zeke More in the Passing Game?

I think that is something we have yet to unleash that can make this offense even more dynamic than it is. Or is that not his game?

He's caught a significant amount at like 80 plus percent. It does seem that he hasn't been targeted as much since the beginning of the season, but it's probably because the last few games they've been taking him out on 3rd downs.

So you know he's an elite receiver because?

He may very well be but what exactly are you basing this off of? Your hopes? Your dreams?
College, the fact most of the time he catches the ball he makes things happen. And the fact he has our longest play of the year on a screen pass.

He caught a ball near the line of scrimmage and rumbled untouched to the endzone. That still doesn't tell me he's an elite receiver.

Now if you just want him to get more screen passes sure. Those plays like wr screens are more like runs in a different form than they are pass plays.

When I think of using him more in the passing game I want to know if he can catch contested balls down the field? Can he line up in the slot? Can he consistently beat a linebacker or safety on routes? We don't know.

I like Kate Upton

I like h
From what I here Dez has the biggest arm on the team..Have him run the same play he ran a few weeks ago but instead of throwing a short TD pass have him throw to a streaking (not naked) Zeke down the field for 50 yard bomb!!

Wheel route to Zeke? Filthy and impossible to defend.

He can do it, but I say just keep doing what they did in 13 wins.

If you want a RB to run WR types routes, then that would be Dunbar. He is considered by the coaches to be a precise route runner and better route runner than some of their WRs. The problem is that playing him at WR would be redundant with Beasley.

Zeke is involved in the passing game....making sure the blitz doesn't upset Dak's rhythm and catching an occasional screen pass. Don't under-rate that role, or the help Free may need with Peppers or Matthews.

Hard to do that when you take him out for a bum like Lance Dunbar on 3rd downs.

I'm wondering if we are going to switch that up. Maybe we didn't want to give him too much as a rookie but I fully expect that's how we roll next year. Similar to how 22 got eased in.

Yes please. It's bizarre how little we use Zeke as a receiving target.

This is the playoffs. I don't want to see Dunbar. I want Dez on Punt Returns, Zeke to play 4 QTR and not sit out the 2nd for McFadden. Screen passes to Zeke. I want Dez in all the time. And Lucky Whitehead can't be on the field. That's just me.. I'm sure everything will happen opposite of what I just said.

Something tells me that Linehan has been saving some stuff for the playoffs. I would not be shocked to see some things from our offense we haven't seen all year and Zeke being involved in the passing game might be one of them.

Yes. Guys in roles they haven't practiced.

That's brilliant.

This. Why mess with a winning recipe? Lets stick with what is working which is Zeke carrying it 20-25 times and Dak throwing 25'ish completions to Dez, Beasley, Witten, and Williams.

I've been watching several games from the 90's past week. One thing that stood out was how much passing we did to the RBs.

When the run game wasn't working as usual, Norv would switch it up have Smith or Moose sneak out on short passes.
Emmitt would turn these short passes into decent gains. We need to do the same with Zeke.
So true, and I expected Dallas to use this, but they havent, it is just a occasional pass that is a play not the dump off or flare pass.

I have noticed this with other teams too, the RB slips out and is often open with room to run, but qb doesnt even look at them.
It works best if RB blocks, then slips out and then gets the pass.
I doubt we see that much in this next game.
