Can We Involve Zeke More in the Passing Game?

We all saw what he could do in Pittsburgh.

Ask the staff why he has been mostly ignored in the screen game since.

Something tells me that Linehan has been saving some stuff for the playoffs. I would not be shocked to see some things from our offense we haven't seen all year and Zeke being involved in the passing game might be one of them.

I expect there had been some vanilla. But really, Linehan if he pulls out something, it is going to be doing something different with an established set. That's how he trends. A pass to Williams out of 3TE is a good example.

Based on that, I expect he's got some first down play action ramped up. We hit a couple of those early and it is crazy making for the safeties

For some reason Dak ignores him when he leaks out of the backfield, even when he's wide open. I think over time he'll work on that and get a better sense of where Zeke is and the spacing of the defenders. Once he does, it's a huge chunk of yards they'll get yearly.

Yep....like I said earlier, WHEEL route to 21? Forget about it. Hope we bust that out a couple times on Sunday. They can't defend it...period.

This. Why mess with a winning recipe? Lets stick with what is working which is Zeke carrying it 20-25 times and Dak throwing 25'ish completions to Dez, Beasley, Witten, and Williams.

Zeke will be the second best player in the game after Rodgers.

If he doesnt touch the ball 30-35 times i'm gonna lose it!

I'm all for using Zeke on screens. Doing so, he could and would prove valuable in neutralizing the Packers pass rush and that of any other team, for that matter. He's now beginning to get the hang of that particular skill more each week. Now might be an advantageous time to unleash his being used more to get him into open space. The results could be devastatingly effective in slowing the opponent's pass rush and causing long yardage penetrations.

McFadden and Zeke in the backfield at the same time. The shift sends one into the slot. So is this a running play, or play action and either RB is up the seam as they match up with a LB. I like the odds of that.

You should probably google Kate Upton. Unless you don't like women I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy what you see.

Exactly.

I had something intellegent and insightful to post.
But after reading the name Kate Upton, I've forgotten what that was... lol

Does play action count as being involved in the passing game? If so, then I am all for it.

I've been watching several games from the 90's past week. One thing that stood out was how much passing we did to the RBs.

When the run game wasn't working as usual, Norv would switch it up have Smith or Moose sneak out on short passes.
Emmitt would turn these short passes into decent gains. We need to do the same with Zeke.

This is actually something I noticed in Romo's drive a few weeks ago, as well as 2014 - he was more than happy to dump the ball to the RB in the seam. Interestingly, it wasn't until 2014 that I noticed him doing that so often, but when he did it seemed to be a consistent 4-10 yard gain. Basically - spread the field with an option blocker from the RB, use your eyes to get the coverage deep or on Witten, then dump it off short. It was beautiful.

DISCLAIMER- This is NOT to suggest anything other than I feel this is a wrinkle that Dak can and should adopt that he doesn't use terribly often.
