Can we leave Watkins out there with SSmith?

I think this is one the biggest challenges from college to the pro's. The WR in the NFL, Attack the ball in the air and he has to learn to attack it as well..I see the skill set,, the atheltic ability to be a good FS,, he just has to learn a few things and he will be really good.

You're dealing with the finer points of the game. I'll lay odds that most of them won't understand it.

Oh, he's got what it takes. It's just not together yet - and that's not his fault. Having a better plan B than an aging drunk would have been a good move.

There is some merit to that. I just didn't want the punk Dwight Smith on this squad.

Did we draft Newman to be a good zone coverage CB? I'm not saying he was to be a shutdown guy (every corner gets beat), but to let a rookie free safety cover Plaxico Burress 1-on-1 is absurd (even if the ref got in Roy Williams' way).

How much did we pay Henry? A lot of money for a guy who doesn't get a lot of chances to make plays man-to-man (he made some great plays last year, before gettng hurt).

My point is, you have two solid corners, why force two safetys with limitations (Roy is a pressure player-a darn good one, Watkins is a rookie with limitless potential) to play roles that the high paid corners should play. Our corners make plays when man-to-man (like most skilled CB's) and are limited in zone (due to keeping the space integrity in a zone concept). Let them play...

Again, that is Parcells, not Zimmer. I heard Laufenberg on 103.3 yesterday saying how back in the Larrimore-Hawthorne days, Zimmer wanted to blitz but didn't trust his corners. Now he loves his corners and would blitz and get creative, but... It's Parcells who likes the vanilla zone schemes.

I think Zimmer has done a fairly decent job, considering he just "learned" the 3-4 and has Parcells looking over his shoulder. He gets a lot of blame, but should get some credit for the things he does right. He is kind of limited by Parcells, as most of the assistants are here.

I don't think Jake will refuse to look Smith's way this time.

Perhaps if Smith hadn't gotten ejected from the game, he might have gotten the ball another couple times.
