Oh please, Tolbert came out of a spread offense in the sunbelt league. They knew exactly that he was going to need at least a year of development just becoming familiar with pro style combination routes. Normally he would have spent the rookie season returning punts, that role went with the signing of Turpin. As soon as they announced they we’re having him learn all 3 WR positions was obvious they never planned on having him contribute this season!
And add in the Fact that it takes WRs to learn the Position shows that He was never in the plans for last year

I’m not overly familiar with Cooks’ game besides he’s traded every year.

Is he more of a slot guy ?

Would OBJ or Dhop move to the slot ?

CD
Cooks
Obj
Gallup

Tolbert

?
I think the DHop or OBJ ship has sailed now.
Cooks will likely play outside a lot. He's a burner and a guy who can stretch a defense.
CD is still WR1 and will be able to play in the slot more, getting a more favorable matchup and opening up his YAC ability which is a good fit with MMs offense.
Cooks was a solid move, especially at the cost (both $ as Texas ate 6 mil of his 18 mil salary and as draft compensation).
I think we will also consider WR in the draft, but now it's not a need we need to reach for.
