Can you imagine Linehan replacing Kubiak, and Romo following?

It is absolutely asinine for a QB as good as Dak is and has been to then have to compete for a job next season. It's not happening.
No its not. If Romo is better in practice and better in the preseason with his historical team records that are still greater than anything Dak did this year, it is totally reasonable. Its only you and your agenda that thinks otherwise.

Garrett talks about COMPETITION. You should really listen to the coach. He is pretty consistent. Good chance Romo is here competing for the starting role next year. If Dak is a better QB, then he will win starting role. What are you worried about?

Highly doubt he's traded or remains the backup.

The most likely scenario is he will be released as a June 2nd designation

The issue is not whether Romo or Linehan move on to the Broncos.....It is WHO will take over as Cowboys OC and HOW that affect Prescotts development or the entire offense..... Cant see Jason Garrett calling plays again.

If we can save enough money to sign one quality starter (either free agent or keep one of our own) and get a late 1st/early 2nd round pick, that would be a huge win. Anything less than that, I think we're getting the short end of the stick. But there's no chance we keep Romo beyond this year. He loves playing and he might have enough in the tank for 1-2 more years. Jerry will grant him that even if we don't get much in return.

Yeah, I cant imagine a scenario where he is a back up by design, anywhere. The guy is a competitor and if hes out there he wants to play. It sounds nice to make it a competition but its not realistic.

Dak is our future and we cant risk sitting him for a year or two. I dont care how good of a guy he is, it wouldn't sit well with him. It would be short sighted to mess with what hes doing.

The only way Romo doesnt either get traded or get released is if he chooses to retire. Some will look at this as a business decision and decide he needs to stay as a back up but Jerry is going to take care of Tony. That's not just the right thing to do, it good business. FAs will always see Dallas as a desirable landing spot because there is an owner here that takes care of his own.

In a perfect Cowboys world, Romo will renegotiate his contract and stay on as backup for the next 4 years.

It's been a dream season so far, why not?

I don't see him going somewhere unless the starting job is essentially guaranteed to be his. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

If the Cardinals move on from Palmer they would guarantee Romo a starting job because he's better than Palmer and AZ doesn't have a young developing QB with starting potential. In Denver they're going to be going through a coaching change which adds a lot of uncertainty there, plus Siemian wasn't that bad for a second year QB. He had 3400 yards, 18 TD's, 10 INT's and a passer rating of 84.6. Nothing great but there's potential there if his development isn't hindered having to play behind a veteran. Then you have Lynch who the Broncos invested three draft picks in including a #1. It's going to be tough developing these young QBs with Romo there. If Romo is handed the starting job and is injured, Lynch could take over and do so well Romo ends up on the bench again.

He would be a very short term solution in Denver if the new coach wants to go the aging veteran route, especially with them having two young QBs with potential. If I was in Romo's shoes AZ's situation would look the most appealing. They play in a dome and if they release Palmer they'll have nothing at QB, plus they were probably the best team that missed the playoffs this season. They were 9th in total offense and #2 in total defense so they have a lot to work with, they just need a consistent QB. Romo could make a huge difference in AZ if he could stay healthy and he wouldn't be mentoring or keeping the seat warm for a young QB. AZ is in a win now mode and Romo's best shot to get to a SB would be with the Cardinals.

Question you have to ask is would linehan risk his Future as a head coach on Romo remaining healthy
You got a 37 year old injury-prone quarterback who the whole League will be gunning for
I just don't see it

with this many coaching vacancies linehan will have lots of options you'd think he'd pick a team with a Young quarterback to develop giving him a couple years to produce

Denver's going to expect results out of the gate
On the plus side he does have Wade to run the defense so he can focus solely on the offense.
It'll be the most interesting offseason I've seen in a long long time

Understood but let me ask you this. If there was an open competition for the QB spot between Dak and Tony next year who would win the job? I don't even think it's close. Other than Tom Brady and maybe Ben Rothlsiberger I really believe Romo is the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the NFL and it is a crime to rush to turn the page on him.
Come on man. Don't be a homer. You think Romo is better then Rogers, Cam, Russell, Brees, Luck, Ryan, Flacco, Cousins and Eli. I guarantee all those guys would get more in a trade then Romo would.

You are incredibly and absolutely wrong. He is an outright better player than everyone on that list but Brees and Rodgers.

A few others might get better trade value because of age, not skill.

How is he better? Romo has been are QB for 10 years and could not get us past the divisional round. Dak has us in the round right now. I love Romo. He is a good QB but geez he is not Joe Montana. He has won two playoff games in 10 years.

Fwiw, maybe nothing, I've yet to hear anyone in the media think he could garner anything better than a 5th, given his age, injury history and salary. Fwiw, maybe nothing, I have to agree.

You think he's only worth a 5th, huh? LOL. Some of you really need to focus.

They're gonna call Dak the King Slayer or the Legend Killer. This year he's gonna beat Brady and the Patriots in the Super Bowl and Brady's career will fall off a cliff starting next year. And next year he's gonna beat Romo and the Broncos in the Super Bowl and Romo's career will be over after that. Good night. Who's next?
Big Ben in year 3.

One man by himself can not propel a roster of 53 and a coaching staff and front office of buffoons who only recently pulled their collective heads out of their ***es to a superbowl.

Joe Montana, like you mentioned, would have won nothing here in Dallas during the years Romo was here. There was just too much ineptitude surrounding him to expect any real success. It absolutely boggles my mind how the casual fan can not comprehend that QB's can't win games by themselves. Look at Luck in Indianapolis, he is well on his way to having a career just like Romo. Records and stats but unless something drastic happens over there, he won't sniff a ring.

There are seveal teams that could court Romo with or without Linehan.
Bills, Broncos, 49ers, Rams, Cardinals and Bears. The funny thing is, is that each of those teams could have a top 10 offense based upon their current RB talent and other playmakers.

Also, each team could send a quality pick and possibly a replacement backup QB.
