Can you remember a more dominant 4th Q by a Cowboys D?

Its been a while but it was good to see them come up big when it counted, reminded me of Doomsday back in the day with Harvey, Randy and the crew giving Roger one more chance to bring the team from behind.

Yep this is what we older cowboys fans grew up watching. Once we got a lead, we rarely gave it back

The Bucs had been averaging 23 points per game in their last five games, and our defense held them to 20, thanks to that 4th-qtr shutout.

Their defense had been allowing an average of 12.8 over that span and we scored 26 -- more than doubling that.

The 9 points we scored in the 4th quarter were more than the Bucs had allowed in the 4th quarter of their previous five games combined.

And we could have and really should have hung 40 on them Percy

I must have imagined Niners fans taking over the stadium

yes this one game represents the stadium.

The texans fans and saints fans were in abundance in early 14 also if this is how you are measuring them.

I'm trying really hard not to get ahead of myself, but, I am feeling more and more comfortable with our defense down the stretch. Even when they give up something that makes you cringe it seems they tighten back up.

I was zoned in on Irving the whole time by the last two drives. He was abusing the two RT's and the help they'd bring in. Never seen anything like it on the Cowboys, and that includes some solid Ware & Ratliff years

You obviously don't go back to the days of Doomsday and Doomsday II. They turned in dominant performances all game almost every week.

Five possessions.

Four of them, 3 downs before giving it back to the good guys... one of those a 1st and s'helpme 5 dang yards.

The fifth? 5 downs before giving it back to the good guys.

Pressure on the QB every drop back. Every. One.

Deflections or sacks on most. Most.

The lone downfield pass that could have done damage, the QB arguably overthrew target b/c of that pressure; and while the DB and S were beat, at least they were there and conceivably could have made a play after the catch.

The screen pass also should have done damage, but the good guys totally blew around their blockers to snuff it out.

Two interceptions.

EDIT: Oh yeah... oops... and add a forced fumble, and even though not recovered, took off, what was it, maybe 20-30 extra seconds off the clock?

If we've had a more dominant 4th quarter defensively in the 40+ years I've been a fan, I don't remember it.

Who can say they saw THAT coming? I sure can't.

If Marinelli ever wants to exit coaching, he'd make an exquisite dam, wall, or fence contractor/engineer. (See how I cleaned that up, mods? Thought you'd like that. :D )
I don't know why either of our assistants would leave. They have the best jobs in the league (comparable). Plus...they've been there done that and we know how that turned out.

Gosder Cherilus is six foot seven and weights 317 pounds. He's a nine year vet.

On both of his sacks David Irving just threw Cherilus to the field with ONE HAND.

Obviously I don't. I became a cowboys fan in 95 when I moved over from England

Yeah, I wasn't trying to be a dick in my post. I was just pointing out that we've had some VERY dominant defenses throughout the years. The D-line in the 70's was like a wrecking ball to opposing offenses. A thing of beauty!

and this was without DLawrence, JThornton, TCrawford
Amazing how this year is working out, players rise to the occasion because the coaches are FORCED to put them out there due to injuries.

If Romo & Kellen Moore don't get hurt, this isn't The Year Of The Dak.

If DLaw and Thornton AND Crawford don't get hurt, we likely don't see Irving out there last night at DE, Marnelli would've insisted on limiting his snaps in the DT inside rotation.
