Can you remember a more dominant 4th Q by a Cowboys D?

"Well gosh darn it, looks like I'm down to having to put Irving out there at RDE because DeMarcus Lawrence, Cedric Thornton, Tyrone Crawford AND Mayowa are all hurt! Just where I don't wanna play him!"

After the 4th quarter is over.

"That's my guy! I found him! Isn't he awesome!"

Soooooo.... into three pages of posts now, can I assume the answer to the question--especially, of course, among those of us who go back to the Doomsday I years--is, "No, matter of fact, I've never seen a Cowboys D have that kind of 4th quarter performance"... ?

Five possessions.

Four of them, 3 downs before giving it back to the good guys... one of those a 1st and s'helpme 5 dang yards.

The fifth? 5 downs before giving it back to the good guys.

Pressure on the QB every drop back. Every. One.

Deflections or sacks on most. Most.

The lone downfield pass that could have done damage, the QB arguably overthrew target b/c of that pressure; and while the DB and S were beat, at least they were there and conceivably could have made a play after the catch.

The screen pass also should have done damage, but the good guys totally blew around their blockers to snuff it out.

Two interceptions.

EDIT: Oh yeah... oops... and add a forced fumble, and even though not recovered, took off, what was it, maybe 20-30 extra seconds off the clock?

If we've had a more dominant 4th quarter defensively in the 40+ years I've been a fan, I don't remember it.

Who can say they saw THAT coming? I sure can't.

If Marinelli ever wants to exit coaching, he'd make an exquisite dam, wall, or fence contractor/engineer. (See how I cleaned that up, mods? Thought you'd like that. :D )
I saw it. Just over a week ago I made a post about this defense becoming elite and yall just laughed at me. Now it's well nobody saw it coming

With all due applause, the question was different... I'm asking if there is a single game in which you recall the Cowboys D performing for an entire 4th quarter as well as we saw Sunday night(?).

Somewhat obviously, I don't.

I feel like this defense doesn't get enough credit because other than Sean Lee most casual fans can't name another player on our defense. But I believe I seen a stat that said our opponents have had 15 opportunities this season to tie or take the lead in the 4th qtr and have only been successful 3 times

Not taking anything away from any other Cowboys defense since the time I began my support in 1970. It's an honest question. We've had some great defenses, and this one isn't yet a "great" one by any means... but of all the 4th quarters played, until there's some other nominee(s), this seems to stand alone as the most dominant one ever, all things considered.

I hope everyone now understands that pressure is just as important as sacks.

You saw it with your own eyes.

I also saw 4 sacks, tipped balls, multiple TFL, arms hit, 2 strips, with one recovery. Those turnovers/plays do not come with JUST pressure, it comes with FINISHING, that means sacks, tackles and deflections. This really isn't about you anyway. Everyone knows that a sack, tackle, etc. is worth more than just getting close/pressure.

Further proves my point that defense is as much about chemistry and communication as it is talent. How many times have we seen defenders throwing their hands up in confusion this year? I knew from day 1 it was possible this D could be at least good. If Gregory shows up I have no doubt we're going to the super bowl

Makes me think of that song by Queen " Under Pressure"

'Under Pressure' was a collaborative effort between Queen and David Bowie - but was originally released on a Queen album, Hot Space. But I'm no expert - so let's ask Vanilla Ice.

I can't give stats from a particular game but I can recall the 2009 team pitching a few shutouts down the stretch that season before beating Philly in the playoffs. I think most fans want to forget that season since it ended in Minnesota with a thud.

This defense is at least a couple ticks better than what was out there in '14.

Add a decent WDE a healthy J Smith and we could have something in '17.
