Canceled Sunday Ticket

So Direct TV came for an installation today. Said they couldn't get a signal due to my apartment location (Bottom floor) without installing a 10 foot metal pole in the grass (which is not allowed, only on the balcony, not on apartment grounds).

Tons of people have it, but I guess my apartment in particular doesn't get signal.

So I can't get direct tv.

I only wanted it for NFL sunday ticket. I was hoping there is a way to order Sunday Ticket To-Go as a package, but you can't get it without having sunday ticket. And you can't get sunday ticket without getting a signal.

So my choice is either pay for Direct TV and not get ANY tv at all, but have sunday ticket to-go or just not have direct TV.

I wish they had an option where you could JUST pay for the online service.

This sucks. Im bummed out now. Back to the sports bar every sunday for me :(

I was under the impression that you could just pay for the online IF you could not actually get DirecTV service. I'd call them back.

Exactly. I live in Atlanta, so they play about 6 games nationally a year, and I get those from home. Anything else, I have to head out to the sports bar to watch.

If you figure you get a beer, some wings and a tip, thats about $25 bucks or so.

25x16= 400 bucks.

For me, it's much cheaper to order ST.

However, if I lived in TX, where I got every game for the most part, then I completely understand not wanting it.

I tell people the same thing. I'd spend between $25-$30 going to sports bars so it is cheaper to buy the sunday ticket. You can drink and eat as much as you want to at home. Think of it like this evey time you buy a beer in the bar you buy a sick pack in the store.. lol

I cancelled DTV last month. They would not discount Sunday Ticket until I flat out told them I had signed on with TWC, then they quickly swooped in and offered it for free along with a discount on my existing bill. I just can't get behind that type of negotiating, so I told them to shove off. TWC was still cheaper by a large margin anyway.

I am planning on using my brother's Sunday Ticket to Go add-on to watch the games that are not on TV.

That's going to be trickier this year as many of those sites were shut down by the federal government.

JustinTV might work but they are pretty vigilant about illegal streams much of the time.

They still exist, just not under those domain names.

Called and tried to get a discount. They'd give me $20 off for 6 months. Well you know what, I needed Sunday Ticket for a WHOPPING 4 or 5 'boys games the LAST TWO years. And they recently put in Buffalo Wings and Rings which told me they'd have the Sunday Ticket package showing games on the 20 or so TV's screens. So who needs Sunday Ticket. Even if I have to go to watch 5 games there I'm still saving money. Screw DirecTV, been a loyal customer for over 10 years buying Sunday Ticket every year at full price. May even take the money I save and put it towards buying my way out the contract I'm in.

I did the same man

I've seen DTV commercials stating that the Sunday Ticket was included in programming now, not sure if that's just for new coustomers or not.

What kind of negoatiating?

I cannot believe you couldn't find someone to budge unless you only called once. Using leverage is exactly how you're supposed to negotiate. They have a service you want, and are using that leverage to try and get you to pay full price. You can go to a competitor and they'll lose out on money and that's your leverage. If they're not willing to go where you want, then you exert that leverage. You can't expect them to just go, "Oh, you want a discount? Sure, no problem, can we give you a rebate while we're at it? Great. Pleasure doing business with you, please call back soon and let us know how we can assist you further." Negotiations take some patience, and persistence.

I mean yeah it shouldn't be an easy thing and I completely understand the whys of why they offer such incentives to new customers and not to existing customers, but from a customer point of view it's a bit hard to understand why a company as profitable as directv can't extend you this kind of thing if you've been a long time customer. Not to mention, not every customer is going to be comfortable with hounding DTV through multiple calls and bluff tactics to talk them down to free Sunday Ticket, they shouldn't have to do this. So I applaud anyone who takes a shot and makes good on their word to cancel. It's good to see people refuse to get stiffed and switch to a competitor, if one exists.

To get it without the service it cost 350 bucks.

They charge 334 for both NFL sunday ticket AND NFL Sunday Ticket to go.

But charge 16 bucks more for JUST the To-Go package.

I'm not paying 350 bucks for online streaming.

I tried to get the entire package, was unable to b/c of where I live. I tried to get the internet package(and I have no problem paying for it. 10 bucks a month or something) but I'm not paying 350 bucks for online streaming when 7-8 of the games will likely air on TV.

I could spend 20 bucks a week going to the sports bar and still pay less then 350 bucks to watch on my computer screen. I was baffled when they told me that price.

You lost. Time Warner cable sucks and no NFLN when Thursday night games start. Should've taken the free offer.

TWC still doesn't carry the NFLN? Not even on a premier package?

I thought they'd have settled that dispute by now.
