Cant be Great without the Greatness of Others

True, but assuming answers that involve the least amount of moving parts and variables is always going to be more probable. It’s Bayesian inference.

Being stupid and failing to produce positive results is more likely than being deviously involved in a con to deceive. It’s far more likely someone is incompetent and stupid, than that they are purposely flailing and flouting about for a malicious reason. That’s the root of Hanlon’s Razor. Jerry might be intentionally conning all of us with his BS, but that’s a claim you have to prove and I don’t think you can do that. It’s a far simpler solution to believe he’s just stupid and actually wholeheartedly convinced of the nonsense coming out of his mouth, which of course would not entail any sort of moral dilemma on Jerry’s part.
It's only a con if you fall for it. I don't think anyone here has fallen for it....maybe the stupid ones are us, for hanging around. The moral dilemma is that we keep feeding the mouth that bites us.

during that stretch were in years when his starting QB went down to long term injury
And I know, wallowers ...a real GM would've had a better backup

I know cause every GM except Jerry Jones bats a 1.000

Eagles lost 5 of their last 6 by a total of 67 points, I'm sorry I had forgotten Tampa thumped them by 23 in a playoff game. Instead of knocking me, use that fact to have some hope for next years Cowboys.
That was a pretty big fact to miss...since it was THE MAIN FACT of your comment...no trivial detail.

"hope for next year"....oh my...how cute!

Well, I’m definitely open to me being stupid. It’s not that uncommon an occurrence for me lol

Not sure about that. My point was they faded down the stretch tremendously hence why I even thought they faded out of the playoffs. Their second Half collapse(season) was my main point.

No doubt what made philly special this year was their culture , connectivity , and ability to go against the grain and overcome adversity. Made pat Mahomes look like a shell of himself. Cowboys don't have the leadership from the top down to do this. Fans here don't recognize what having that culture means. unfortunately, it's xs and os talk here, but is so much more than that. People dismiss it cause its the eagles, but that type of winning is what is needed and leadership from front office, to coach , to players. Sirriani galvanized the locker room when a team falls apart, and is shaky in 2024 to start ,then does this, it is true when he says you can't be great without the greatness of others. As a football fan, it is a very very impressive job top to bottom.
What made Philly special was their players. They built a team, that helps build culture, connectivity and the ability to overcome adversity. Look at 2023: The Eagles pretty much fell apart when it looked like they were going to run away with the division. The Eagles players were sniping at each other and they fired both coordinators. Then, they added some more quality players, like Barkley, and boom, Super Bowl.

As long as the Joneses continue to leave us short on quality players, we will have trouble being more than just an occasional playoff team.

Just a guy who refuses to go with the woe-is-us Cowboys fans status because it is simply not true. You might not be as good as you want to be but you have been an upper echelon team the previous 10 seasons(20 actually) and your GM has drafted more pro bowlers, all pros, and ROY than anybody. He's rebuilt your team on the fly from Tony-Dez-Witten to Dak-Zeke to Dak-Parsons-Lamb and his only losing seasons during that stretch were in years when his starting QB went down to long term injury

Yeah I'm Jethro's assistant. Somebody got to to tell the whole story
So what you are saying is that we are all wrong to want championships. Just sit down and shut up and pay Jethro for mediocrity. Lick his boots for being able to be relevant.

1. you are not mediocre
2. Sure you should want the ultimate prize

If the Cowboys were the Detroit Lions the past 20 years, this would be their glory years. Chicago Bears resurgence! Dolphins best run in quarter century! Jets Peak! Jaguars 20 years of greatness! Browns dynasty 20! Best 20 year stretch in Bengals history! mid-1980s Cowboys-dynasty by comparison

Point being it has not been as bad as perceived and documented. The Cowboys just have a miserable echo-chamber. No fun. Switzerland said it 1995. No fun winning here. Cowboys could finish 15-1 and you people would blame the GM for that one loss: we're never going undefeated as long JJ continues to only care about money and not winning! Miserable place

Great post.

I'm scratching my head trying to remember who was it that won the Super Bowl for the Eagles back in the 2017 season against Brady and the Pats?

Let me lead with that I’m not trying to argue with you. It may sound a bit sarcastic but I’m actually trying to discuss and reason much more than put you down or prove you wrong. Seriously.

You’re completely correct that they have had respectable seasons going back quite a while when they didn’t lose the starting QB….this is if you want to ignore folding at the end during the Garrett years with the playoffs on the line.

Thing is, they really did feast on a weak division for some time there. In Garrett’s final three years they were 15-3 vs the NFC East, and 12-18 vs everyone else. They were not built for a deep playoff run but management appeared blind to that.

So, it’s determined to be Garrett’s fault and they hire McCarthy to get them over the hump. Throw out the first fake season and one in which the QB was lost early anyway. Over those 12 win years, they were oddly…15-3 vs the division. Not built for a deep playoff run.

The bottom line is they come up small when it counts, and have for some time now. People are tired of management deciding that being ‘good enough to market’ is good enough, and it seems like a reasonable gripe.

Either that or they just aren’t capable or recognizing what it takes to win. I can work with either. They leave us in the same spot.

Eagles missed the playoffs last season and there was talk of major beef between the QB and receiver. Cowboys can win next season if they make the right moves and mindset. Shut up and work!
When was the last time Jerry made the right moves?

This generalization is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off base.
