I was listening to Galloway on my ride home and he said that he thought Canty would be picked up with the 1st round tender. And after seeing the Raider DT (Kerry?) get a 60 million dollar deal today, I'm starting to agree with him.

A team could pick up Canty for 2million, and give up a 1st round pick.

Its not at all out of the question to think we could end up with three 1st round picks.

I wonder if Jerry is hoping this happens to give him more ammo for a certain Razorback.

Stay tuned...........

i think that would be a shame, cause canty will be dominant, albeit not flashy, for the next five or six years...

You understand he needs to sign an offer sheet right?

And that any offer sheet he signs the cowboys have the option to match.

If he signs an offer sheet for a reasonable contract the Cowboys will match it.

Canty is already getting 2 million just from the tender offer, so a team would have to give him a bigger contract than that to get him to sign.

I wonder if The Tuna would trade up one spot with the Giants for the sole purpose of trading the pick for Canty?

Would be pretty shrewd... Canty would speed up the rebuilding effort for sure.

He knows the system plus he would be a leader on defense that will be getting much younger in the future.

They have the cap space too.

Yes losing the first overall pick for Canty would be shrewd.

Teams can only use their own picks for restricted free agents unless the other team agrees to a trade instead.

but the question is ... is Canty a No. 1 overall pick? I know he wasn't drafted in the first round, but would he have gone No. 1 overall? That is what we would be asking the Fins to trade if they did, indeed, sign Canty. He's a nice player that fits into what Dallas' D does (nice illiteration, right?), but wouldn't necessarily translate over.

I think he means that Parcells would trade up with the Giants from the the 1st pick in the 2nd round to the last pick in the 1st round and use that pick for Canty.

And I think I mean that teams can't do that.;)

Read again smart guy. I wrote trade up with the Giants.

Giants last pick 1st round.
Mia 1st pick in 2ND round.

Once you have a pick its yours to do with as you please. Cannot see how it would matter. Canty was considered a late first rd pick before his injury to his eye.

You may be right.

32 pick in the draft would be fine with me.

I can't see the Cowboys using 3 first rounds if it came down to it, I would expect to see us trade down, or trade for a pick next year. That's alot of money to drop in draft for one year.

I'll give you an example. New England, San Franciso, Indianapolis, and Cleveland cannot sign Chris Canty. The reason, not one of them has their own draft pick anymore. New England has the seventh pick but it belongs to SF, so no go. San Fran has the Colts pick, so no go. Indianapolis and Cleveland don't have a first so no go.

I'd take it.

And then with that same first round pick, or one of the other two, I'd pull the trigger on this guy
