So does that mean that all 32 teams dead money drops off the books in the uncapped year?

All dead money accelerates into this season, so there is no "dead money" in 2010 to drop off the books.

Or if a CBA is agreed on before then would that change?

Yes, if the CBA is extended before the 2010 offseason starts, everything should go back to normal (unless something changes in the new CBA).

Because right now there is no CBA at this point beyond this season. 1 of 2 things is likely to happen:

1) they get a new deal, and a new cap etc falls into place

2) they dont get a deal and the owners lockout the players
What about #3 -- they don't get a deal and play an uncapped season?

I guess its possible, though alot of the NFL commentators seem to believe if there's no deal the owners will lockout the players.

I've heard Jerry say several times though that he believes the uncapped season will definitely happen, so maybe he doesnt believe the owners would lockout the players.

Yeah, I think it could go either way. You make a good point, actually. Everyone seems to be operating under the assumption that next year will be played as an uncapped year when that may be the least likely option for all we know.

JJ has been behaving very frugally -- as if next year won't be uncapped.

On edit: By 'everyone' I mean everyone in here.
