Are you prohibited from signing a guy if it would put you over your cap today, but you know you will be back under before the week is up?

for Example, and i'm just throwing random numbers out. but if we

- Are 100k under the cap.
- Sign Huff to a 1 year 5m contract.
- Cap number becomes (4.9m) over ***
- Sign Romo to new contract
- Remove 6m from cap hit.
- End up at 1.1m under.

is that something that is allowed? what are the rules against it? do you have to remain under for every moment? or is there periods to shuffle around?

Cowboys are not, I repeat Cowboys are not going to sign Michael Huff to no 5 million dollar a year deal. probably like 1 to 2 million but not 5.

You could possibly agree to terms, but nothing can be officially filed with the league until the space is available. The league will not approve or allow any deal that puts a team over the cap.

thank you. so they could sign a deal here today, not send it in. and tomorrow sign Romo. then send them both in.. for all intents and purposes... cool.
