What happens to a players cap number if they retire/cant play due to injury?

Just thinking about Terry Glenn and how we plan to afford the draft picks we currently have.

If he has the surgery there is no way he passes a physical before training camp and I cant see him putting in another years worth of rehab to come back aged 36.

Also which players are the Cowboys likely to look at for restructuring apart from the obvious, TO?

If a player retires or has an injury that makes them unable to perform, they count as a cut like anybody else. Sean Taylor counts as a cut, and he's dead.
