Cap Space Update

is daks tag included in that amount? If not and I'm guessing no bc he is not signed. Doesnt look like there is $$ left for his deal. DC fans be prepared for crab legs as ur QB this year.
Dak’s franchise tag is absolutely included in this - we started with nearly $80 million and have only signed a few guys (all to low cap hits). Even Cooper’s cap hit is only $10 mil this year, so yes Dak’s tag is in this.

Don't be shocked if Dak holds out & gets what he wants because there won't be any FA quarterbacks left.

Say goodbye to that huge chunk of change.
If he does that I hope he loses all of his endorsements (which he would’ve never got if he was the QB of any other team - you don’t see Carson Wentz’s pimple face in a F ton of commercials). The Cowboys have been more than fair with him.

When you have half the entire cap space going to a small number of players you don't have cap space. I am not saying this is a great team by any stretch but we screwed ourselves with the zeke and cooper contracts.

20 mil a season for a guy that couldn't beat 5th string corners in Philthy with the season on the line? No thanks.

I think Dak was the biggest problem that night.

I think the Cowboys still envision an extension for Dak, so don't be shocked if they sit on a huge chunk of change.
Yes, once he comes back to earth, once they agree on a contract may have like a 30M signing bonus making his salary this year low which frees up money.

Your avi makes me want to watch Kickboxer.
Maybe Bloodsport...

Draft pool will only be about 2.5-3 million.

Sportrac lists it at 6.7 Million, but we will have that from Dak or Crawford by then, probably both. Worst case scenario they can get it from restructuring Zack Martin or DLaw.

Yep, TCraw salary adjustment in their back pocket...go get a legit NT to pair with McCoy. Then choose between a starter type CB or DE.

After that wait till draft and post draft releases/June1 to find some bargains.

Bingo. One thing you did get right and the key word "bargains", will get those.

I didn’t say high end, all pro level starters. But yeah. It’ll get solid starters. McCoy cost 6 mil. He’s a starting level DT isn’t he?

Plus the cowboys have other cuts and restructures they can do to create more space.

maybe you should pull out a calculator of your own. The cowboys have plenty of space to add another couple of starters on defense.

I see another fan from his couch has cuts that will make more space. The only problem is if the coaches don't agree it blows your whole cap management off. Then Stephen finally saw what happened after over two decades of renegotiating contracts that just adds dead money on the cap and keeping the Cowboys in cap hell is very very seriously doubtful he'll start that again.

As far as McCoy, he's going into his 11th season and I hope he still has something in the tank but we're going to have wait to see. He wouldn't be the first player to drop in production once they get into their 30's. Again I hope he's still good.

Now your starting caliber players, 2 of them within that 14.8 mil and you say McCoy for 6 mil, well right now McCoy has the the 34th highest salary of defensive tackles for 2020. With 2 starting tackles for the 4-3 defenses and 1 for the 3-4 defenses that means if McCoy turns out to be what he has been the Cowboys got awful lucky on that and to say or think they can repeat that twice more is wishful thinking.

That figure is including Dak’s tag cap hit. Dak’s cap hit would go down with an extension. You’re complaining without even understanding what you’re talking about

Crawford is taking a pay cut or will be cut.

The cowboys can easily restructure Zach Martin, because he isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon so it won’t be a problem.

If Dak gets extended, it will lower his cap hit this year.

So again, the cowboys can get a couple of starters with the cap space they have available to them. If they so choose. It’s not really open for debate, it’s just a fact.

Lastly, opening your post with criticizing my viewpoint because I’m a “fan on the couch” is asinine, considering you are also a fan on the couch. Which means your opinion is just as worthless.

Lastly, of course it’s up to if the coaches and front office choose to do it. That goes without saying. So bringing that up, like you’re making some kind of insightful point, is also silly. Based on that, this entire message board is pointless because discussing potential movies the team can make, is pointless because none of us work for the front office.
