Do any of you salary cap gurus know where we stand on cap space for this coming off season as it stands now?

right now we have somewhere around 18 million under the cap. AdamJT13 is the best person for this.

So next year we will have another almost 20 million cap hit in dead money but 20 million in salaries coming off. SO we are back at even, but the NFL lets teams take up to 100% of the free cap space at the end of 2011 and add it to the 2012 cap plus they give al teams a 1.5 million add on. SO that will be 20 million about to spend if the Cowboys add all 18 million available on tohe 2012. Also there is a rule that a NFL team has to spend 91% of the cap next year.

Anybody have a list of Cowboys who have expiring contracts at the end of the year?

I know L. Robinson does and Elam. Anybody else of important that we'll need to use that cap room on?

I'd argue that we should keep Spencer and Marty B - both of whom have expiring contracts.

Spencer
Robinson
Elam(may not be brought back)
Holland
Dockery
McBriar
James
Brookings
Coleman
Ball
Bennett
Olgetree
if we release Newman it will save us 2 more million in cap space.

Spencer at the right price - yes.

I'm kinda wondering if it would be best for Marty B. to have a change of scenery. I'm not convinced he can't be a pretty decent TE for another team. I'm not sure his mind has ever been right sitting behind a HOF TE in Witten with no hopes of passing him up.

Could you gives us a comparison right quick of how the cowboys cap situation is compared to the packers?

McBriar, Robinson, Spencer .... the rest can walk as far as I'm concerned.

Last I heard Jerry was planning on rolling that 18 mil over to next season to cover the dead space from releasing players this season.
