Ok stupid question... when referring to cars, what is a Clone?

So does anybody know what this means? I have an idea, but want to know for sure before I make any purchase.

Individuals will take a Le Mans, modify it into a GTO. Now you have a GTO “clone”.

My in-laws have a 64 1/2 Mustang just collecting dust in their garage. My wife banged it up a little bit when she was back in high school and it's been sitting in the garage with minor body damage ever since.

I have a long-term plan to get it/but it from them, refurbish it, and then keep it in good condition so my son can still drive it in 12 years when he's old enough.

if that plan goes through, you should be dad of the year
