I can see this is going to be a depressed place when Booger says ad nauseum Qak takes up a large percentage of the cap and that means he has to take up the charge and get us to the **********. He's the heart of this team if he can't hit that **********, and I know he can, but uh ..but uh....we will get there. We're all in for uh...for uh....well, for our...to meet our goals and the goals these fans have for this team.

There will be no focus on the running game. I can't believe how so many peeps here forget who run Cowboys town. Dak gets paid to throw the ball and we will throw the ball. Maybe the run game is complementary and we have success, maybe not. Jerral already had the fireside chat with Schotty and reinforced how it is going to be.
Did you not watch this team from 2014-2018?

Dallas doesn't have the horses that Arizona had. OL did come on stronger as the season went but as of now they have no RB and the QB isn't a threat to run.. gotta hope they do enough in free agency and draft to fix this.
See Jeanty, Hampton, Jones, and Henderson.

They obviously plan on drafting a top back or backs and will certainly be focused on running the ballnand using play action.

Team better find a way to get a running back that scares defenses. Probably two of them in today's NFL.

For a slightly positive spin, all of Dak's metrics look good when the run game looks good. If you want to win with Dak, don't try to turn him into Mahomes. He needs to be a bus driver.

You can't turn any quarterback into Mahomes. He's one of one. Other quarterbacks outside of Mahomes in most cases benefit from solid running games. It's not just a Cowboys thing.

The Eagles are in the Superbowl because of the BEST running game. Hurts is nowhere close to Mahomes either.

I wonder how much of those stats are influenced by having a dual-threat QB the past 2 seasons though? Kyler ran for 500 yards in 2024 and in 2023, he split the season with Josh Dobbs and they combined for 500. That kind of rushing from the QB position is definitely not happening here!
A LOT!

With that, the gaze immediately turns to the Cardinals list of 2025 free agents, and it just so happens that several of their offensive linemen are free agents. Three of those are of particular interest to Dallas.

First and foremost is Kelvin Beachum. The 13-year veteran is still going strong at 36-years old, grading at a 75.4 (out of 100) in pass protection according to Pro Football Focus. In fact, Beachum has graded out green or better (green and blue are the positive ranges) every season since his rookie campaign in 2012.

With Dallas having to give serious consideration to replacing Terence Steele this offseason, Beachum may be the perfect bridge player. In fact, two of his three highest-graded games were as the starter at left tackle. At minimum, Beachum should be an immediate addition as the club’s swing tackle, and then Dallas can consider things from there.

Also to be considered is Evan Brown. LG

RG Henderson was a second-round pick of the New York Giants, No. 34
Very good info.

Wouldn't shock me if we grabbed one of their free agents.

Only way to turn a QB into Mahomes is to bring the officiating crew on board for the Cowboys the way they are for the Chiefs.

Mahomes has had double digit interceptions and fumbles called back due to penalties. That helps a lot.

I think we'll draft one and re-sign Dowdle. I wouldn't mind if we drafted two, though. Might depend on what the new staff thinks of Vaughn.
As much as they prioritize the run game, I'm expecting them to draft two RBs and sign a vet ( keep an eye on James Conner ). Conner is an 8 year vet. He has one year left on a 2-year deal that only pays $2-3M. The Cards already have his replacement on the roster. He could very well be released. Vet presence and locker room player for the young guys.

****Not sure Jeanty gets out of 10 ( Jets, Saints and Bears ). Even so, I'm not sure we will draft him at 12 or at all. If you follow recall Stephen Jones's view/comments/history regarding RBs he would not draft Jeanty.

** Through Stephen's lens, a 1st rounder is def getting a 2nd contract if it's a good pick. He has said a player drafted in the top 15 should be on your team 7-8 years. Based on this thinking........
*Jeanty as an RB is good for 5-7 years w/o injuries (50/50 odds of not being worth a 2nd deal )
* He has almost 800 college career touches
* Emmitt, Felix Jones and Zeke are only first-round RBs.....otherwise, they are drafted 3rd, 4th or 5th rounders
* I expect them to look for the next DeMarco Murray.....big 3-down RB ( 2nd or 3rd round )

Conner would be a great get if possible. Plus well played at the same high school. He’s a great kid that runs with power and catches the ball.

I just can't figure out what is obvious to them. You see it, I see it, most fans that follow the team can give you an idea of the holes in the roster but this front office doesn't always see it the same way to the same level of need as a lot of us do. 100000% I hope they get a back, and it doesn't have to be in round 1.

Great Cardinal Fan Video on losing Adams, they are sick!

This is a really good listen. Good post.

Kudos to the PHNX crew for putting together a lead-in that makes sports in Phoenix/Arizona look noteworthy.

Comments from Schottenheimer, and with this guy’s resume, it strongly suggests the Cowboys running game could be taken off McCarthy’s pitch count.

I’d say look for a back in one of the first two rounds. Plenty of good Rb’s this year, but if want a true lead dog I’d be targeting Jeanty, Hampton, or Johnson. Outside of those three, you’re taking a nice compliment to Rico.
