CP3 has two years left on his deal. I don't think the Knicks have enough trade value to get CP3, so I'm gonna go with a big fat no on that one. The Magic and Mavs have way way more to offer than the Knicks in trade. The Knicks pretty much only have Gallinari. If the Hornets make a trade with Chris Paul, they are going to pile on Emeka Okafor in that trade too.
CP3 isnt going anywhere, they traded away Collison so they are trying their best to keep him there.

According to Ken Berger at CBS Sports:

Anthony's hesitation to sign a three-year, $65 million extension with the Nuggets goes beyond his desire to enjoy the major-market exposure and pressure that LeBron James and Dwyane Wade turned down this summer. Melo would accept other destinations as well, and the Magic are believed to be at the top of his list along with the Knicks, according to a person familiar with his strategy.

The exit strategy began taking shape last week, while Anthony was in New York for Nike's World Basketball Festival. It was then, according to the source, that Nuggets management was advised to begin exploring trade possibilities for Anthony to avoid losing him as a free agent and getting nothing in return. When Denver fills its vacant GM position, the likely choice, former Suns executive David Griffin, will inherit a crisis similar to the one he endured with Amar'e Stoudemire, who left the Suns for a five-year, $99.9 million deal with the Knicks.

Hmmmm, I wasnt expecting this

Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix reports Carmelo Anthony may prefer New York, but he's open to signing a multi-year deal with either the Nets or the Rockets.

"Multiple league sources familiar with his situation told SI.com that Anthony would also be open to signing a long-term deal with Houston or New Jersey should either of those teams offer the Nuggets an acceptable trade package, Mannix reported Wednesday afternoon. He added, "In Denver, there is no urgency to make a deal quickly."

There's been mostly silence on the Nets' side of the river about any of this. Billy King says he won't talk about it all, can't actually because of tampering concerns. Others in the front office will only say, "we have a lot of offer".

Will the Nets make a call? Of course. A Knick official admits their best chance would come in free agency because if there's open bidding for the 6'9" forward, at least 22 teams will call. The likelihood is a lot of them will offer better assets than Eddy Curry, Danilo Gallinari and a 2014 first rounder.

Melo is a sorry *** wussy that starts with a different letter. I remember him throwing a cheap shot punch at a NY Knick believe and then ran like a little girl so he didn't get his *** kicked in turn.

The NBA must have forced Youtube to remove it because I can't find it there anymore. I believe it was against Mardy Collins.

EDIT: Here it is on Google video (very poor) Jared Jeffries was going to kick the every living **** out of him, but he ran like the little punk*** he is.

To throw a sucker punch like that and then run away like that. He deserves to be knocked the **** out on national TV.

Seems that all of the teams mentioned so far have a viable Big Man on their roster (don't know if Yao is going to come back or not).

The Denver Nuggets and New Jersey Nets come to terms to trade Carmelo Anthony to the Nets... full report at 10:00 p.m. with Lionel Bienvenu!

Denver's Channel 7 kicked off an Internet firestorm when they reported that the Nuggets and Nets "agreed to terms" on a trade for Carmelo Anthony, but those reports have been thoroughly denied by the Nuggets and Anthony, and most reputable NBA insiders are saying there is no such deal in place.

Rotoworld contacted Channel 7 for comment and they stood by their report, so it will be interesting to see how they wiggle out of this one. Chances are they won't, and even if there was the framework of a deal discussed, the key piece is Melo's acceptance of an extension which is far from a done deal. Melo will be in uniform when the Nuggets play the Spurs on Thursday. Dec. 15 - 12:48 am et

FWIW, the Nets may trade for melo, but it's been reported that he won't sign an extension unless it's NY, so that means the offer form NJ won't include Lopez or Favors.

While Anthony hasn’t shown a great willingness to play for the Nets, he hasn’t ruled it out. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_yl...srockets121410

Its his last resort but if he has to do it to make the max, apparently he will.

Dont you think the Nets would have stopped trying by now if they were told no?

Nuggets are waiting for the last possible moment so the Nets record is as bad as possible for that draft pick.

according to this espn report he won't sign an extension in New Jersey. He'll play for them, but they run the risk of losing him in free agency this summer just like Denver. Also it's worth noting that a previous report (can't find it now, will look for it later) claimed New Jersey would do the trade without Melo signing the extension, but wouldn't include Favors or Lopez without the extension.

This is likely why they pulled off the trade today to get these first round picks, so they have a good enough offer to get melo without giving up their young core. Problem with that is they're giving up a lot of picks, hoping that Melo decides NJ is an ideal situation.

As far as the extension goes, it's likey not to effect Melo. Sign the 65 million dollar extension, but when the labor situation is settled, the players will likely take a pay cut.

Dude the Nets missed out on LeBron, they aren't getting Carmelo either. If they do, I'll eat sauteed crow with a side of seaweed salad served over a bed of jasmine rice.

I actually wouldn't be suprised if Melo ended up in NJ, but it would only be till the end of the season. The collection of 1rst rounders from NJ is more than anyone else will likely give in a sign and trade, so it's likely they'll trade him now, then NJ will try to recoup some of those draft picks when he signs else where.

Tisk, tisk. Let me guess whos report that is? Chris Sheridan. The same guy who wrote an open letter to him begging him to not go to the Nets. He reviewed their arena and gave him the run-down. From the fact it was a bit chilly to the mouse traps he saw in the corners of the halls.

Hes a Knicks groupie, dont buy what he says. Plenty are saying it could get done. Hollinger, Ford, Iannazzone, Wojianowski etc.

Obviously he would rather the Knicks but their package is lame.

The Nets have not been told he wont sign an extension, so I think when it comes down to it he would rather sign up before the lockout. Whether its the Magic, Mavs, or Nets who step up.
