Tisk, tisk. Let me guess whos report that is? Chris Sheridan. The same guy who wrote an open letter to him begging him to not go to the Nets. He reviewed their arena and gave him the run-down. From the fact it was a bit chilly to the mouse traps he saw in the corners of the halls.

Hes a Knicks groupie, dont buy what he says. Plenty are saying it could get done. Hollinger, Ford, Iannazzone, Wojianowski etc.

Obviously he would rather the Knicks but their package is lame.

The Nets have not been told he wont sign an extension, so I think when it comes down to it he would rather sign up before the lockout. Whether its the Magic, Mavs, or Nets who step up.

I garuntee if Melo gets traded to NJ, it will be a "lame" package that doesn't include Favors or Lopez, which supports what I've been saying.

Adrian Wojnarowski reports that a new multi-team deal is shaping up for Carmelo Anthony that would bring Anthony, New Jersey native Al Harrington and possibly Chauncey Billups to the Nets with Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, multiple draft picks and cash headed out. Harris would go to an unspecified third team. Other players are likely to be involved as well.
Woj also reports that Anthony is "inclined" to sign a $65 million extension with the Nets, if they gather enough pieces to win now. The deal, he says, is not imminent but is coming together quickl

so basically the Nuggets become the Nets and vice versa? Can't see how that would be a good deal for the Nets.

Besides that doesn't even work under the salary cap, NJ would go over the salary cap which presents the same problems as melo staying in Denver

The Nets already had the best offer. I think what we are hearing is that they are willing to move a chip like Harris and take on a bad contract like Harrington in order to get more help from a 3rd team.

Like moving Harris and getting back Stephen Jackson or something

Dude the Nets missed out on LeBron, they aren't getting Carmelo either. If they do, I'll eat sauteed crow with a side of seaweed salad served over a bed of jasmine rice.

Oh I definately see how Denver benifits, what I fail to see is how this puts Melo in a better situation, thus giving him incentive to sign an extension. I don't think he has a problem with NJ, as much as how long it would take for them to build a winner and this trade put them in almost the exact same situation Denver is in now.

you're acting like it's a done deal when I've already said the deal doesn't work cap wise. NJ can't take on the 3 contracts u say

Its not the best situation but its a fresh start, theres a few young players, but more importantly they have a sick owner and arena in BK coming in 2 years

Okay, I didn't realize that Charlotte had incentive to help NJ, because this trade doesn't. Unless they're getting a 1rst round pick from a team not likely to go to the playoffs (which I assume would go to DEN), this is a bad deal. Wake me up when this happens. I still believe it's more likely melo gets traded for a bunch of picks, doesn't sign an extension and NJ is forced to S&T him to NY, Orlando or Chicago

The 4 team deal that fell apart had Harris going to Charlotte.

I have no idea what this deal will be though its so hard to predict(Although I and many other called that Arenas/Rashard swap). Reports are it will involve multiple teams and some veterans going to the Nets.

Id love for you to be right. We have too many picks and this next draft sucks. If we could rent and woo him just for picks Id love it but dont see it.

A few more teams who might be interested in Harris :

Portland could use him, they are sick of Miller
Sacremento could but they really have nothing to offer anybody
Atlanta could send Marvin Williams to Denver

Why the hell would NJ do that deal then? Signing an extention will always be part of the deal, if one ever gets done.

New Jersey has so many 1rst rounders that it's worth the risk of losing him. They'll hope that the core they have is enough to convince Melo to sign long term. From Denver's point of view, they still get a better deal than Cleveland got for LeBron

Mavs joining the 'melo race? If so, as a mavs fan i'd really only be happy with giving up Butler(or maybe Marion) + Stevenson for him. Maybe throw in a draft pick and $$$? I don't see why denver would refuse that, especially when everyone knows it's probably going to be a rental anyway. That's about as good a deal as it gets.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=24lyycu

Veteran PG, 2 superstars, 2 really good athletic centers, sharpshooting clutch 6th man. If Cuban's able to work his magic and resign melo(and chandler) then we'd have a dynasty on our hands.

I'd hate to see Butler go, he's been pretty good for us this year. However Melo is just superior in every way and Butler might not have been with us next season anyway.

Carmelo's going to play for the Knicks.

It doesn't matter what Melo wants, if denver accepts what dallas has to offer then he'll come here. At least for the rest of the season+ Playoffs.
