Overheard just a few from Wade's newser:

1. Carpenter has poison ivy. Wade joked that he must have been out hunting.

2. Asked for a young player that has looked good, Wade said Travis Bright has caught his eye.

Feeling insignificant this afternoon so I thought I'd start a thread. Please affirm your own significance by correcting or adding to the above ...

Those were the two points I noticed, too... Also that Spears was back, and it sounds like Hodge won't play this week so he can play more the last game.

Wade also propped Octavien a little more.

Also noticed that the last two days Wade has been in a pretty crabby mood, for whatever reason.

Special Teams have been bad, maybe he's mad that his guy hasn't made a huge improvement so far.

you know what would help the special teams a bit?a freaking punt returner .we are conceding a lot of yards and almost saying that we can never have a Punt returned for a TD.Its a shame Felix cant catch punts.

I propose we put Patrick Crayton and Felix Jones back for punts and have Patrick catch it and then pitch it to Felix and block for him.:p:

at least Bright can play - he played pretty well on the 2 teamers againest the Titans
at 6-5 #320

3 year starter for the Cougars. Arm and hand length 33.9, 10.0in.

Travis also did pretty well at the BYU Pro Day on 3/11/09. He did not run the 40 or do the jumps, but he posted a 4.56 short shuttle, a 7.87 three-cone drill and 35 bench reps. At the NFL combine Bright had the 2nd highest bench press reps (34 reps of 225 lbs.). He can max out at 540 pounds.

Strengths
Phone booth style OG who will move a defender out of his gap. Packs a punch and is very strong through the upper body. Gets push and turn. Is able to pull better than one would think. Good punch. Good lateral quickness. Hits moving targets and can get out on the 2nd level. Seasoned in pass pro.

I think ole lazy fat boy Holland better look out - he looked slow last game

as well as Procter - for Preston

Terence Newman ain't bad, but I see the logic in not risking him...

UDFA O-lineman out of BYU. Played in an Offense very similar to ours and is kind of versatile. Has played 4 of the 5 OL positions.

A Project who has the tools to be a find.

Hopefully, Bright will blossom into good player. He sure hasn't got much pub from training camp though.

here is alittle more on him;
Travis Bright signed by Cowboys OG

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Travis Bright
G, Brigham Young
TRAVIS BRIGHT MEASURABLES
Height: 6-4 Weight: 317
40-yard dash: 5.39 10-yard dash: 1.81
20-yard shuttle: 4.56 60-yard shuttle:
Broad jump: 9-0 225-lb. bench: 35
3-cone drill: 7.76 Vertical jump: 35
Wonderlic: 20-yard dash: 3.09

War Room analysis
Strengths: Is strong, especially at the point of attack. Uses his hands well and plays under control. Displays impressive technique, works to make all his blocks and is a good finisher. Is quick off the ball and has a strong, effective punch. Plays under his pads well in the run game. Is a powerful run blocker who can move the pile. Uses his size and bulk to lean on the defender and wear him out.

Weaknesses: Has below-average lateral quickness. Must improve his hip and knee flexibility. Plays high at times. Is not a natural athlete. Lacks the speed or quickness to make blocks in space. Can be beaten by faster defenders in the pass blocking area.

Bottom line: Bright is a solid football player who understands how to play the game. He is best as a run blocker, but needs some work on pass blocking. Still, there's little doubt he'll be playing on Sundays next season as a starter.

Actually none of the O-Line has gottne much pub other than some passing or failing grade commentaries. With OL you almost prefer when you hear nothing about them. IT means they are probably doing a decent job.

Carp is such a waste of time... He will be a free agent by the time he shows any skill.
