Carpenter reminds me of Randy White

Guys:

Just thinking the other day that Carp is built similiar to Randy White. Not saying that he has Randy's physical ability (White probably the second strongest Cowboy of all time), but that he looks a lot like White from a physical standpoint.

Let's hope Carp gets in the weight room in the off season and improves his strength (think he only did 20 reps in BP) to become a more competitive player.

Remember White didn't do much for I think two seasons while they tried him at middle linebacker. Then they just stuck him at DT and his play took off.

Bradie was a 4th round pick and Parcells developed him over time. With Carp being a 1st rounder I think Parcells will ride him in the same manner and have him ready. I wouldn't be suprised to see Carpenter starting the first game next year.

Sticking to subject, I never really say Randy White, except in highlights and old school game films so i couldn't really compare him to White. But from what I've heard/seen that a pretty good compliment.

Yeah but those are 2 good reasons why he does compared to say a Leon Lett even in the days when Leon was actually wreaking a lil bit of havoc.

I guess I see your point on this.
Randy White was a freak physically.
At first Landry thought he had the next Dick Butkus with him at MLB.
But Randy did show that his true spot was DT.
Carpenter is just starting to get some playing time and I noticed him doing some good things in the Giant game on some runs.
I not ready to give up on Carpenter just because he isn't starting yet.

...is good footspeed to match offensive players in this league.

That means he really has to hit the books and learn his position well. He can be an effective player in this league if he places himself in the right position to make plays.

I don't think he will be that physical specimen who can be out of position, but make the play by recovery.

He can be a good football player, but he has to work at the offseason and learn the nuances of his position and the NFL game.

Like everyone else he needs time for evaluation. That said, he can't enter his second year and still be a consistent game day scratch. That would really threaten to push into "bust" status. First round draft choices shouldn't be sitting at home healthy in their second year.

Matt Vanderbeek (sp?). Carpenter reminds me more of the Beek rather then the Great Randy White. Although, I think Matt has way more special teams tackles one year then Carpenter.
