I think this board seriously overrates Brown. He blows coverages and grabs WR's constantly. I don't mind him as a 4th corner but if he's starting next year, he will be a top target for opposing QBs and offensive coordinators.

Great season. I'm not even mad. Now the team has to go out and get better on defense.

That's the thing though. You can have a second, third, and so on priorities as well. I want a speed edge rusher badly but if you are sitting there at 28 and there's a great CB or LB there, you need to draft him over a lower-graded DE.

This team can not sit out free agency. In fact, they need to be aggressive and make business decisions over being loyal. Barry Church is a great teammate but is horrible in coverage. Carr is dependable but makes no plays. Claiborne showed remarkable improvement but also showed he can not stay healthy. Tyrone Crawford is getting a big-time contract but is simply not a big-time player. All of those guys being on the roster next year takes up cap space. Instead, use the cap space on better players. That doesn't mean you have to overspend in free agency. It just means that you absolutely do not overpay your own guys out of a sense of loyalty.

Get better on defense or this team will suffer the same fate in the playoffs next year. You can't go down by 18 in q home playoff game. You hqve to be able to stop great QBs, at least some of the time.

We overpaid Newman and then needed to get out of the contract. If you look at his numbers in Cincinnati and Minnesota since he left Dallas, and then consider what he was paid, the Carr deal hurts even more.

Carr 2012-2016 - 315 tackles, 45 passes defended, 7 INTs - $50 million paid

Newman 2012-2016 - 299 tackles, 55 passes defended, 9 INTs - $17 million paid

No you are absolutely correct on this. I think people are just so happy that our sixth rounder wasn't a complete throw away. Third or Fourth corner seems about right, no way he is a starter.
