When Eberflus was hired for his 1st DC job with the Colts, they used their 1st defensive pick on Linebacker Darius Leonard. Many remember he was the defensive rookie of the year.

Schwesinger is a very similar prospect at the same stage, speedy, instinctive 3 down linebacker with range. This type of linebacker is key for his scheme to be effective. In my opinion, he is going to be in the running for our 2nd rd selection.

Good note. Flus would probably have to get Carson with 44th pick, but I would consider him great value at 76. Schwesinger was the funniest watch of the LBs to me, and I think he'd be a good choice. At 6'2 225 Carson probably plays beside a Mike, at Will, so would that mean Liufau is the MLB next season?

+1 .......you are right. It's a given we will select a LBer with one of the top 3 picks

Rookie Shaquille Leonard, a 2nd round pick out of South Carolina State, led the NFL with 163 tackles (93 solo), earning First Team All-Pro Honors and making the All-Rookie Team.

I think they sign a MLB starter and have Marist continue to play on the strong-side and be a primary backup at the other two spots. He is ideal replacement for Overshown in my opinion and they figure it out if he does return to form. Eberflus wants rangy linebackers.

Also, remember his first signings with the Bears were at the Linebacker position in Edmunds and TJ Edwards. He highly values the position for his scheme.

BTW is this the same Leonard who attempted a comeback a year ago.........I think some posters thought we would sign him but he signed with the Eagles.

We did eventually sign him, but he wasn't the same player due to his injury history. The linebacker position is a lot like the running back one, many collusions leads to injuries, that's why you need good depth at the position.

At 6'2" and 225 lbs, Carson Schwesinger is not big enough for the MLB spot. Would prefer someone bigger like OU's Danny Stutsman, 6'4", 241 lbs. Plus, Stutsman is slightly faster (4.62) than Schwesinger (4.70). Stutsman has the same size and speed that LVE had.

Yes, Schwesinger would be an ideal will linebacker which we also need due to Overshown's injury. As of right now, all we have is Marist who is still in that developmental stage. I think we sign one veteran starter and add a day 2 pick to the position.

Stutsman is the guy I want but we might have to overdraft him by a round. Maybe late rd 2 via trading up into the bottom end of the Rd. Not sure he will last to 3.
Thing with Stustman, is he a 3 down linebacker? I worry about him in coverage which you need in this scheme.

I know, I stated Schwesinger would play WILB. The question was where would Liufau play in the new defense.

I'm a fan of Stutsman 's work. I agree he could play MLB position for Dallas and I be happy with, the gets to the ball and plays fast...a bit reckless too.

We'll see how the 40 goes those projected numbers will soon be put to bed.

Jihaad Campbell is going to have a really good combine and I'd take him over any LB in the class. He's a DE convert and still learning the nuances of the position. His game against LSU was one for the ages and he did it again against Michigan. 6'3" 245 and runs like a deer. I'm afraid after the combine he'll slide into the first.

Danny Stutsman will definitely not last to the 3rd round. Cowboys would need to take him in the 2nd. Also read how Stutsman keeps in touch with his ex-college teammate, our very own Tyler Guyton, so we know Danny Stutsman has interest in the Dallas Cowboys. Definitely give me a player who wants to be a Cowboy!

Jihaad Campbell will definitely go in the 1st round, possibly much earlier than thought, probably early 20s pick. If WR T-Mac does not fall down to the Cowboys 12th pick, the Cowboys need to trade down into the 20s while picking up an extra late 2nd or a 3rd & 4th round picks, then take Jihaad Campbell if he is still available in the traded down 20s Cowboys spot. If Jihaad is already gone, trade down again from the 20s into the very late 1st round (30 - 32) if possible and pick up another Day 2 extra pick. Then take Danny Stutsman in the 2nd round as a backup plan in case Jihaad Campbell is already taken in the 1st.

Yep that's right. Due to his size he's be a liability in coverage. But we could also use him at edge ,again...due to his size and frame. Love his leadership and pass rush element he offers .

Stutsman isn't my favorite LB in coverage but he is a run stopping animal.

A defensive combination of him + 2 coverage LBs could work nicely.
