Carson Schwesinger LB UCLA

6’2 1/2”, 242 - WOW!!!!! Let’s see how he handles the drills at that size
HELLO!!! Surprise, surprise Carson can play MLB.

Great point, how will his 40 time look because all the other projected MLBs are in the 230s.

Yep that's right. Due to his size he's be a liability in coverage. But we could also use him at edge ,again...due to his size and frame. Love his leadership and pass rush element he offers .
No doubt we need high level run defenders, but can they not get exposed in coverage as teams play in the nickel the majority of the time. Hard to find these so called 3 down linebackers.

He put on 15 pounds in the off-season. His 40 time is really important now. He was already projected to run a slower time, something like 4.70; this should be interesting.

I don’t think that fits his play style though…I like him at Will where he can just use his elite instincts and run to the ball.

Marist is physical as heck and looked pretty good as the Mike last year. And everything I’ve heard about him is he has that green dot mentality to be that guy.

When Eberflus was hired for his 1st DC job with the Colts, they used their 1st defensive pick on Linebacker Darius Leonard. Many remember he was the defensive rookie of the year.

Schwesinger is a very similar prospect at the same stage, speedy, instinctive 3 down linebacker with range. This type of linebacker is key for his scheme to be effective. In my opinion, he is going to be in the running for our 2nd rd selection.
Im a fan. Do you think he can play Mike?

Sean Lee was playing at 230 ran 4.7 playing the mike for Eberflus. Lee was never a backer who took on blocks, but rather used his great instincts to beat lineman to a spot. Schwesinger is a similar type having strong instincts for the position.

Eberflus likes to cross train his backers to be able to play any linebacker spot in case of injuries. Both Lve/Jaylon could inter-change from the will/mike during his time.

I still think they bring in a veteran stop gap starter in fa, but you need depth within the positional group as it usually is hit hard with injuries throughout the season.
