They were right...moving from 4 to 2? We also lack an adequate backup QB. Naw...Bosa/Elliott. Our QB has back issues and is aging. He takes Wed practices off and will rest his back just after our most recent OTAs, etc.? You want a QB, you go get em (Garrett fawned over him for hours during the Senior Bowl practices). You don't wait for an UDFA gem like Romo to fall into your lap twice...JJ thought he could get cute and get Zeke and Lynch but SJ "nixed" that via PR. The article of JJ staying up all night wishing he pulled the plug for Lynch was telling fans we HAD a QB plan...just didn't want to move up (earlier or later in the 1st; in reality). Kaaya/Watson will be there if Romo goes down again next year (spilled milk). Prescott was plan Z.

No way. If you've got an expensive QB, you don't match overspending with two teams who don't. That's just a dumb use of resources.

Feel you there, I meant immediately after the Sen B. bf the craziness occurred with the trade ups. But I hear your point too. Just don't like clinching every time Romo gets off the turf wondering, etc. We have to nip this eventually or we will see post Aikman redux.

I was hoping and expecting to go QB at #4, too. I just can't get behind what the move to #2 would have ended up costing. Especially for Wentz, who's so far from proven.

I hear ya, and it's pure speculation on my part that the price would have been lower if we acted earlier, etc. I'm willing to give up picks for a QB, but not a ransom. I don't think 2 to 4 is a ransom; high definitely, but not RG3 level, etc. Next year's 1st scares a lot of folks and that is not unreasonable for fans to take that perspective. It didn't so much this year bc I knew Wentz would be our backup to TR as well and prefer he show em the ropes.

I do like Kaaya's development in Miami but we would have to pay that ransom to get up there for em, etc. I understand it's college, so the top QB projections are not guaranteed by any means as we have seen so many times in the past; they can even drop to mid round status and not just in the 1st. Maybe my taste for gambling shades this perspective to a degree

Dallas had him rated about in the middle of all of their players with 1st round grades.
They clearly did not like him as much as Philly.
Doesn't mean they didn't like him...but not enough to sell their draft souls for two years.

There are several good prospects for next year.
