He is projected to go in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th. It depends on what scouting report you are reading. Most seem to think he will rise before draft time.

Don't know where is projected but like others of his name sake the kid makes plays and is a hard nosed player.

It's pretty low (5th-6th round), but it won't stay low. His brother was rated about the same, but shot up after the senior bowl and individual workouts. Casey likely won't shoot up as high because he's smaller and not the athlete hos brother is. On top of that 3-4 OLB, where Clay was projected but never played, is a premium position, while ILB is not. When it's all said and done, I think some team will draft him in the 2-4 round range.

6'2" 235 at least that is what they list him as

Which is fine for an ILB in a 3-4/4-3 or even an OLB in a 4-3. Not athletic enough to play weakside, but certainly strong side.

I would not mind getting him with a mid rd pick, heck I like hard nosed players and it is easy to see that the Matthew kids were raised to be hard nosed players.

I doubt he's 6'2. Wouldn't be surprised to find out he's 6'1" come the combine, maybe even a hair under that.

Don't let his size fool you though, kid can play.

Sorry I doubt anyone can tell from TV is a guy is 6'1" or 6'2".

Relax tiger, I'm just saying he's likely shorter than his listed height, which is 6'2".

I'm relaxed I think it is funny based on TV you can tell he is 6'1" not 6'2"

I would stop betting against that family.....

Clay Matthews Sr - played 4 years with the 49ers in 50's.
Clay Matthews Jr - Pro Bowl linebacker, played 18 years in the NFL
Bruce Matthews - Hall of Fame tackle, played 18 years in the NFL
Kevin Matthews - former walk on, became starting center at Texas A&M, currently on the Tennessee Titans
Clay Matthews III - 2 Pro Bowls in 2 years, former walk on at USC
Casey Matthews - starting linebacker for #2 team in country
Jake Matthews - starting right tackle (as a freshman) for Texas A&M

I'm still mad that USC didn't offer Casey when they had the chance.

Oops, I forgot Kyle Matthews (Clay's and Casey's older brother) who played safety at USC.

6'1.257" to be exact.

:laugh2: I don't know on my TV he looks 6'1" and 3/4. :laugh2:

It seems we both agree the kid is a good football player

I really like his motor, and instincts. I was impressed by his play last night in the big game. I would pick him in the 3rd if available.

4th would be about the highest I'd take him unless he has a surprisingly good combine. He plays bigger than he is, and could be a nice sleeper pick.

"With the 9th pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select:........................................................Casey Matthews, LB, Oregon"
