Would it be out of line to say the dog was................***** whipped?

Apparently the "p"-word for cat is blocked.

you also can't say Broncos legend Steve Atwater's name

edit: or at least, you couldn't before, but obviously can now

It is obviously security cameras. No person holds a little camera or phone that steady or is able to jump around to film from 3 different angles. Plus the article I linked said they were security cameras. I've met people that have several security cameras around their property.

I have seen a fair amount of posters on this board say that cats don't love their owners and that dogs do. All of the cat haters look pretty stupid now. BTW saw an interview with the owners and they said the cat is very sweet by nature.

Cat's just act like they don't care. If you've ever returned home to a cat after a few days on the road, you'll see just how much they missed you.

That said, I lived with a cat that was a real jerk too. He would just stealthily run up behind be and swipe his claws at my Achilles before scampering off into his cat tree, so I can understand the misconception.

That is just how they play.

Hah that was definitely not a Pit. My Pit would of torn that Cat to pieces. But my Pit also would never attack anyone, especially a child.

Animals are unpredictable and can snap at moments notice. When that happens with most dogs it doesn't usually end up deadly but pitbulls are just so much more powerful they tend to kill more often.

I have security cameras inside and outside my home too.

I understand that argument but in my own personal experience my angels (dogs) are shown love and trained boundries. I walk my babies constantly which is also vital. Owner neglect almost always leads to pets with anger and angst. My neighborhood loves my pit.

bottom line is that your animal could easily kill a child if it wanted to. You refuse to face that issue. Go on and on about your 'babies'. Any animal can snap- just like any person can snap. Difference is that no one NEEDS a pit bull.

I keep thinking of all the neighbors of serial killers...

what is depressing is how people speak in generalities and not facts, doing more harm than good to the breed.

Why the Bad Rap?

Sadly, the pit bull has acquired a reputation as an unpredictable and dangerous menace. His intimidating appearance has made him attractive to people looking for a macho status symbol, and this popularity has encouraged unscrupulous breeders to produce puppies without maintaining the pit bull’s typical good nature with people. To make matters worse, irresponsible owners interested in presenting a tough image often encourage their pit bulls to behave aggressively. If a pit bull does bite, he’s far more likely to inflict serious injuries than most other breeds, simply because of his size and strength. A pit bull bite is also far more likely to draw media attention. Many dogs of other breeds bite people, but these incidents almost always go unreported. They’re just not exciting enough fodder for television and print.

Despite this bad rap, a well-bred, well-socialized and well-trained pit bull is one of the most delightful, intelligent and gentle dogs imaginable. It is truly a shame that the media continues to portray such a warped image of this beautiful, loyal and affectionate breed. Pit bulls once enjoyed a wonderful reputation. Some of the most famous dogs in American history were pit bulls. A pit bull named Stubby, a decorated hero during World War One, earned several medals and was even honored at the White House. During duty, he warned soldiers of gas attacks, found wounded men in need of help and listened for oncoming artillery rounds. Pit bulls have been featured in well-known advertising campaigns for companies such as Levis, Buster Brown Shoes and Wells Fargo. The image of a pit bull, which was considered a symbol of unflagging bravery and reliability, represented the United States on recruiting and propaganda posters during World War One. Many famous figures, including Helen Keller, President Theodore Roosevelt, General George Patton, President Woodrow Wilson, Fred Astaire and Humphrey Bogart, shared their lives and homes with pit bulls.

Modern pit bulls can still be ambassadors for their breed. Some are registered therapy dogs and spend time visiting hospitals and nursing homes. Some work in search-and-rescue. Tahoe, Cheyenne and Dakota, three search-and-rescue pit bulls from Sacramento, California, worked tirelessly at the World Trade Center during the aftermath of 9/11. Others, like Popsicle, an accomplished U.S. customs dog, work in narcotics and explosives detection. Still others serve as protection or sentry dogs for the police. The majority are cherished family members. Pit bulls become very attached to their people, and most love nothing better than cuddling on the couch or sleeping in bed with their pet parents (preferably under the covers)!

Agreed.

Anyone that posts something like that doesn't know what they are posting about.
Good stuff. I am a cat lover and have always observed how protective pet cats can be.

Of course, I do not put anything past any animal, pet or otherwise. They are living, thinking entities. Regardless of how much love or cruelty someone may bestow on an animal, it is the animal who decides to act. Sometimes they act in a violent manner. The dog that attack that boy may have been loved by his owners. Being loved doesn't stop an animal from lashing out.

All pet owners should monitor their animals. Dog. Cat. Snake. Don't manner. Well, goldfish may be an exception. :) Pet attacks happen because owners do not take enough precautions to prevent them from going off on people. The excuses are disbelief or it's the victims fault. No it's not. If you don't want your pet to bite someone else, make sure of it. If a pet owner says that's impossible, fine. If an owner's pet bites someone, pay the consequences. If my granddaughter was ever bitten by someone's pet, animal control can relax. I'll take care of it. Likewise, if my grey tabby bit her, that cat would never be seen again. If her mother (my daughter) took a baseball bat to my head for it, I would not blame her in the least.

Bottom line: keep control of your pet.
