see this what I don't get - for the Rams to trade up 11 spots

Rams pick at #15 (1050 points)
and at #43 overall (480)
and #45 (450).
You want in the top 5 for a QB? You overpay a little bit. If you wanna be nice to them, pretend the Cowboys send them a 4th round pick along with #4 overall. The Rams pick their QB of the future.

why would be so hard for the cowboys to trade - with everybody saying that it would take all our draft picks ?
http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/draftchart.php

His point about Dallas having to send them a 4th rounder too (or maybe just a 5th if the Rams are eager) is probably true.
1800+100 = 1990
1050 + 480+ 450 = 1980

In any case, moving from #4 to #1 is much more pricey (1200) than moving from 11 to 4 (750)
It would take at least a couple of 1st rounders and most of our tradable draft to get there.

1st overall = 3000

Out 1st = 1200
Our 2nd = 560
Next year's 1st = 420 to 500 range..say 460 (next year's 1st value usually between a mid to high present year 2nd )
Our 3rd = 250
Our 4th = 100
etc
etc

still not even nearly there

PS
disclaimer....these charts are only guides and not fixed in stone, obviously. But you'll find that almost all trades come within 5%..or 10% at the worst...in matching it.
BTW; Jerry is one of the one that sometimes gives the extra 10%. I've never seen him get the extra 10%

Trade down I have said for months is a great option if we could get the Rams 2 2nd round picks. 4 guys in the first 2 rounds would be awesome. Lots of meat in this draft in round 2.

As much as I want either Wentz/Goff or Elliott, if we could drop down and get the Rams two picks, trade back into the first and get whoever we take at 15 (please, Elliott), then get Lynch and fortify the defense with two picks in the second with another in the third and three in the fourth?

That would be swwweeettt!!

Probably this same guy.

Broaddus just said on the Cowboys Break that do not be shocked that if certain things happen where the picks they like are taken before we are on the clock and we can not get a good trade down value we like...they might just take Spence at 4.

Said they are really doing their homework on him. Not sure if he is hearing the homework line from the scouts or if he is just speculating.

I wonder sometimes if Broaddus ever hears himself say stuff and thinks 'that's idiotic right there.'

We're not taking Spence at #4. There's no way the board can break where Spence is the best choice at #4. If we move down, find. If he's insurance in a move down for Lynch, fine. If they think he might fall and want to have done their homework, fine. But not at #4.

You likely wouldn't have a third in that scenario.

If you trade from 4 to 15 and get the Rams two #2s that would give you the 15th pick, three 2nd rounders and a third. But to move back into the first to get Lynch, you'd likely have to trade your best 2nd rounder and then your third as well.

So in theory, if you did all that you'd have................ #15, #20, #43, #45 and then two 4th round picks.

He cited the Fredbeard situation.

Where everyone and their mother said that Fredbeard was not slotted where he was taken but we took him anyway.

If they want what they feel is the best DE in the draft and they can not get a trade partner....I could see Jerry taking him there.

We over reached for QC when they viewed that position a need position. They did the same with other DEs in the draft in the past. There is history there that says it could happen.

Taking a guy like that in the 20s is one thing............. taking a reach at 4................ entirely different.

Spence at 4 might be the LOL-est of the LOL moves the Cowboys could make.

We'll see. He was using the same argument re: Lynch earlier in the week.

There's a big difference between a difference of opinion with consensus at 4 and at 31 though. In almost every draft there's a handful of consensus best players at the top, and then there's clumps of players from there on out. Spence and Lynch are first round talents generally, but neither is a top 5 blue chip, and neither is so good you don't trade down for him and just reach instead.

It's not like it is a trade idea that nobody could come up with on their own.

If a trade to the rams happens, you could draft all 4 needs in the first 2 rounds, and I'd be happy. QB, CB/S, DE, RB

then the rest of the draft you could get LB, DT, TE, WR, OG/C in rounds where good players at these spots can be found more easily

Isn't Spence 250lbs?? Another smallish DE? If we go back to the 34 I'm ok with it.

Do we have to go through this every year? Edge rushers are usually between 250-265 when drafted. Lawrence was 251 when drafted and is the starting LE. One of the best young pass rushers is Kalil Mack who is 250.

15 – Dallas Cowboys (via LA Rams): Noah Spence – DE – Eastern Kentucky: The Cowboys haven’t addressed their biggest need, pass rush. Spence can help. He’s the guy in this draft that can win with speed and bend on the outside. Will need to get stronger in the run game, but getting to the passer is priority #1.

See the full mock here... http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2016/03/29/cavanaughs-mock-draft-2-0-cowboys-trade-and-get/

I feel like I've seen this movie already and know how it ends

Then you could trade a 2 and a 3/to the Jets for 20 grab Lynch and still have 2/second round picks

Looks like Lynch is at 31 and wouldn't have to jump to 20 to get him. That being said I would gladly give up a 3rd to get Lynch at 20 old have the 2 round 2 picks left. 4-5 players in the top 70 is great
