Zeke changing to jersey No:15 (merchandise), allowing FA's to leave (resetting CAP), Dak's contract timing (publicity, optic of trying, Dak probably wouldnt sign in 2025 after his health was put at risk with this O-Line). Even telling the world he was ALL-IN (saying I fooled 'em). His whole intention was to 'tank', without it appearing to be obvious.

Jerry is an evil genius, one of those James Bond unhinged types.

Tank for what. Who is your head coach going to be? There was never any plan.

If that was Jerry’s thought process, what a bigger idiot than I thought.

Yeah, its been being discussed on this board since like February. Its the reason McCarthy was brought back. They don't have to pay a second coach and have a ready made fall guy in place for when things go poorly.
Supposed to be the fall guy, but that isn't working out so well for him that is why he got so angry at the guys on The Fan

I think at this point Jerry is just incompetent and really thinks this roster was good enough due to the 12-5 seasons prior.
They liked Zeke, outside of his contract stance, and thought he + Rico was good enough. Signed him for cheap.

The front office doesn't want to venture into the unknown for a QB, so they caved to France again, and re-signed Dak to a record contract. He put up some good FF numbers, so hey top 10 guy.

While I go back and forth on the FO purposely dragging the contracts to act poor, I also think they use the offseason as most owners do. Check out till training camp and football is back.
Most of their recent re-signings have been around training camp. Stephen Jones was too busy pushing their Netflix series during Free Agency. Jerry is scribbling like a toddler during some of his meetings.

If they are buyers this trade deadline then this wasn't a show or really wanted to tank/reset. They just were on hopium during the offseason.

The team kept Garrett under contract until they hired Mike and even then didn't fire him but let his contract expire. IIRC there were some rumors that if they weren't impressed with Mike that Garrett was still an option.

Al Davis was just like this. Bitter, even if it hurt the team. This is Jerry's vengeance on the staff. Without him firing anyone, til he's ready that is.

Jerry wasn’t thinking this was a tank season. Just stop. Those morons think they are smarter than everyone else. They think they draft better, sign better players, etc… That clown thought Zeke was going to rush for 1,000 yards I assure you of that. This is not a particularly great draft, they signed a 31 year old QB to a huge contract and their cap situation is not good. They did not believe they would be 3-5. It’s the chickens coming home to roost. Bad drafts. Bad cap spend. Bad culture. Cheap. 1 year contracts. It’s all blowing up in his gremlin face.

This would have been an insane plan, but it'd have been a plan. You're giving Jones way too much credit: there is no plan.

No surprise, Jerry's tanking strategy is highly flawed. Assuming they sign Parsons, the Cowboys will have another top-heavy roster with 4 players (Dak, Diggs, Lamb, Parsons) they have had for 4+ years together and nothing to show for it. The rest of the roster is nearly a total dud.

They will end up paying Ferguson and Bland, continuing the vicious cycle of lazy roster management, throwing top money at good but not top talent and refusing to churn the roster for the best blend of players.

Rinse, repeat.

Jerry IS a bitter, stubborn, delusional old , once great maverick in the league. Now he's just bitter and delusional. But no dummy. Make no mistake, he is pissed at McCarthy and staff. That's why he has them all on one year deals. That's why he allowed guys to walk. The man holds grudges. Even if it hurts the product on the field.

Jerry is NOT a genius, and I feel embarrassed for anyone who thinks he is.
You are probably right but when you sit in his chair ....... experts/geniuses working for you for the most favorable outcome. For example, you are a military guy.......the resources/experts for a General are unlimited to help him make the best possible decision.
