CB Bailey re-signed by Broncos to 4 year deal... Patrick Peterson may fall now?

It would only take a 3rd rounder to move from 9 to 6...

this is the kind of fantasy stuff that really gets me

that "only a 3rd rounder" this year could be D. Williams of NC who is a true FS and could start as our FS at the start of the season.

our first rounder could be a starting OT (sherrod, smith, carimi) or could be 2 OL if we can trade down to teens and get a 2 or 3.

so, you are willing to take PP over:

at a minumum starting OT + FS
possibly: 2 starting caliber OL and FS

PP is good, he is not that good.

You're getting on him for fantasy but you're doing the exact same thing. All of these guys could bums. All of them. Including Peterson. But Peterson is the most likely to succeed. What happens if both the starting free safety and offensive line we draft in the 1st and 3rd round suck and Peterson ends up being a perennial Pro Bowler?

If you are drafting Dareus to be a 4-3 DT, than no, there aren't 7 of him in this class..

But we aren't doing that..as a 5-technique, he isn't going to be anything special..Cam Jordan is a better 3-4 DE than Dareus..
Nonsense. He'd be an excellent fit as a 3-4 end.

He is an outstanding fit as a 3-4 DE, no question..like MB4 mentioned, there are about 5 others who also are great fits..

Or that 3rd rounder could be a Robert Brewster or a James Marten. The Cowboys have been horrible at picks in the 3rd round. Dallas hasn't made a good 3rd round selection in EIGHT YEARS.

When a reporter asked Peterson who was his favorite player to watch...He said "Me."....Do we really want to travel down that road again? Haven't we been there enough with players on this team?

the same can be said for draft picks in any round

by that logic why dont we trade the entire draft to the panthers for the #1 pick so we can be sure of getting this once in a lifetime player.

What did T.O. say about if it smells like a rat, if it looks like a rat, then by golly, it is a rat. Dallas has and still does have serious problems with drafting in the mid rounds. By that logic, we could have had Adrian Peterson as well but instead we got Spencer, James Marten and I cannot even remember the 2nd rounder. We stink at drafting. Might as well get a sure-thing in Patrick Peterson.

i will let you in on a little draft secret which is the only "sure thing" about any draft:

there is no "sure thing" in any draft

i think that this team has too many needs to be wasting multiple high draft picks on one player, esp if that player is CB who many 'experts' feel is actually going to be a FS.

if this were the second coming of deion or champ, then i would agree but he is not

lets agree to disagree

I'm in the same boat as you man..I am not down with trading a 1st and 2nd or even 3rd for Peterson..

This team has plenty of flash..we need more guys to do the dirty work..smart, hardworking, team oriented players..preferably, in the trenches

DC circa 2009-2010
Product of an alliance between a bad GM and a soft coach

their epitaph will read:

"too much style and not enough substance"

i just hope that is not we are saying about DC circa 2011

Schefty said Denver going after a D-linemen, not taking a CB

I don't need confirmation from schefty lol..Peterson is going to fall to 6..Dallas is going to move up to get him..

nah, I still think the Broncos take him and if not I still dont see him getting to 6 with out someone trading up for him. If he gets to 5 I sure hope Jerry considers it but before that the price will just be too much.
It could happen if he fell to them. It would be a straight up BPA thing.

But recall that they're switching to a 4-3 so there's plenty of needs in front fo the secondary.

Anyone who thinks he'll drop to #9 is delusional...we'd have to move up into the top 5 to get him.

We can get a good CB in other rounds...I still see us taking a DE who can actually pass rush in the 3-4 with the first pick...believe it or not, those guys like GB's Jenkins actually do exist. Everyone knew Spears and our other guys were never good pass rushers even at the college level.

This draft has several guys who could upgrade our front 3 right away.

When Peterson goes to the combine and makes everyone's jaw drop with his athleticism he may solidify that top 5 billing.

But this is Jerry we're talking about, can really see him reaching for an OL or taking a 3-4 DE with a top 10 pick?
