OVERVIEW
2013: Started all 13 games and led team with five interceptions. Ejected from game for "Targeting" a sliding quarterback against Nicholls State. 2012: Started all 13 games. 2011: Played in 14 games and started 12. Had a forced fumble in Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin. 2010: Redshirted.

ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS
Good size and length with a well-proportioned body. Quick-footed pedal. Shows read-and-react skills and nice anticipation to break on throws. Good hand-eye coordination. Gambler’s mentality that enables him to make plays. High school skill-position traits show after he intercepts. Aggressive and competitive. Three-year starter.

WEAKNESSES
Is lean and functionally weak -- lacks press strength to impede receivers off the line. Tight-hipped. Gets wired on blocks outside. Needs to clean up his pedal. Inefficient plant-and-drive -- average balance and body control through transition. Falls out of the hip pocket and loses phase downfield. Lacks elite top-end speed and recovery burst -- needs help on explosive receivers. Average physicality and tackling ability. Tends to clutch and grab and draw flags.

BOTTOM LINE
Wiry, smoother-than-sudden, off-man/cover-3 corner who upped his visibility as a junior by showing improved playmaking ability, which prompted a premature leap to the NFL. Could compete for a job as a No. 4, but lack of ideal explosiveness, top-end speed and bump-and-run ability limits his ceiling.

@JoshNorris: I'll be shocked if Terrance Mitchell goes undrafted. My No. 60 overall prospect. And I'm not alone in liking him.

I like the pick. Came off an injury and ran well at work out.

Excellent pick to land a CB like this so late in the draft.

I am also surprised Rashaad Reynolds has not gone either. Both good value CB's.

They needed a CB to develop with some size and Brugler had him listed as a 3rd Rounder:

STRENGTHS: Wide-bodied with a thick trunk and natural girth…can anchor and hold the point with his lower body base…takes on multiple blockers to create lanes for his defensive teammates at the LOS…quick, coordinated footwork with adequate quickness and reaction timing off the snap…has some range to work up and down the LOS…violent, active hands to fight through blocks and handle double-teams – aggressively shoots his hands and looks to bully…strong hands and wrists to secure tackles and make stops with his fingers – productive the past two seasons with 125 total tackles…consistent competitive temperament and plays with a can-do attitude – motivated with a good head on his shoulders.

WEAKNESSES: Shorter than ideal with tight hips and joints, not always playing with the flexibility needed…lacks ideal arm length and will allow blockers to engage off the snap and turn and twist him…only average play speed and foot agility, lacking much experience dropping in space…needs to improve his anticipation and instincts pre and post snap – eye use tends to run hot/cold and can be late to locate…below average pass rush arsenal with minimal sack production on his resume…will wear himself out due to his motor and is forced to take some plays off…lacks ideal experience against top-level competition, sending two seasons at the JUCO level and then two seasons in the MAC…minor durability concerns after missing much of pre-draft workouts due to a foot injury.

Tangent, but if we had taken Mitchell in the 4th and Hitchens in the 7th a lot of the people complaining about Hitchens would be very happy - and we still got both players.

The Cowboys actually did really well with those five 7th round picks I think. All guys that could realistically contribute next season. Well done.

And there's still a lot of guys who weren't drafted to be had as UFA's. Hopefully we get a couple good ones in here for camp.

He was a guy with a 3rd to 4th round grade, along with a couple other late guys like Dixon and Gardener, very nice 7th round for Dallas. Wow!

Better in zone than in man. Mitchell is the opposite of Brandon Carr in this regard and should be a scheme fit.

I can see this guy and OScan being the two starting CB's in '15 if we stick to zone schemes. Claiborne and Carr could see themselves headed elsewhere and it would be beneficial for both parties.

So a 5th and 7th round pick over a top 6 pick and a 50 million dollar FA in just 3 years. That might be Jerry's biggest mistake ever if it happends. Whoever makes the team better in my eyes.....gotta play good and earn it.

Dramatic scheme change is the biggest issue man. Carr and Claiborne are press man corners, which we played we drafting and signing them.
