I am worried that Smith will take it to TNew bad this game to even the score. Smith is still fuming about how TNew hounded him the last time they played when Smith got ejected.

Do you guys believe we can control Smith again?

I know it's going to be a huge letdown if he doesn't. These little WRs are the guys Newman really should be dominating, because he's just as fast and slightly bigger. He will need help, though, and I don't know if we have a safety capable of such things.

I think it's a little optimistic to think that Newman should dominate Smith, but I think with a little safety help - certainly not a given with our safeties, Newman can hold him in check.

Not Smith in particular - just recievers like him. He didn't allow hima catch last year, and he's had similar success against Moss, so he has dominated recievers like that - hell most any reciever (including guys like Holt, Bruce, Smith....on his awesome stretch at the end of last year). It is unrealistic to expect that - but I think we're all at a point where we're surprised when he allows a catch.

Smith is not the worlds greatest WR. So lets hope of his jock and look at him straight up

He's fast with exeptional route running.

T-New is fast, with exceptional cover skills.

I see a great match-up with Both getting the best of each other at certain points of the game. IMO its gonna come down to Delhommer, if u can get to him or confuse him in coverage, u'll be just fine.

Remember they did just get held to 14 points aganst Cinci.

Couldn't of said it better myself.

Don't be unfair. We want Smith to have at least some chance.

Well if wanted to totally shut him out we'd have Merriman stab him with some needles.:D

I think it should be said - Newman IS going to give up a TD sometime in his career, more than likely at some point this year. Heck, someday, he is going to give up 130 yds and 2 tds. ALL corners have bad days. I don't want you all to freak out some day when it happens to him.

Are we convinced he's going to cover him every play?

Otherwise I'd be more worried about formations where T-New locks up on someone else 1 on 1 to take them out and we rely on Glenn with help on Smith.

Are you having flashbacks of Santana Moss last year?

Sooner or later Newman is going to get burnt Fred Smoot style.

Every CB does, as someone already mentioned. I've had this game slated as such. Its just a prediction....

It's been known to happen.. there and elsewhere.

Like when we first sign Deion. First play from scrimmage against the Niners. He stays at Corner, Rice lines up in the slot and buzzs right past Woody for like an 80 yarder.
